System Shock Remake!!!!!!!11111one

System Shock was a very innovative game for its time (and for years to come), not only because of its in-game features. The CD version supported one of the first Virtual Reality Headsets, Forte's VFX1, along with 3D Video with FOV change and its CyberPuck controller with pitch, yaw and roll steering. The game could also use a wide variety of devices, including a Logitech CyberMan 3D controller.

Enjoying it very much so far, wouldn't it be great if this version supported VR? Apparently the re-make of System Shock 2 will.

Whats happening with System Shock 3? cancelled?

I've done the first and 2nd pip wall puzzles. No idea how I did the 2nd one, just connected plugs until things happened lol.

First one is easy though, connect the lit up ends.

Runs very well upscaled to 4K on a 3070, though it's not surprising.

@mrk I checked out your video to see how you did the puzzles,
only to realise that the layout on the finished release is different to the demo. :D

I just got to Research (so further than the demo) and I'm loving it.

I think this game is making me feel nostalgic for great '90s gaming .

I'm a little bit disappointed with the low-res textures. I know they're going for a retro-feel but it seems a bit off to me.

Also I prefer the original voiceovers, especially Shodan which seemed (so far) to have better effects on the original. OK those original recordings are probably really bad quality these days but they could be cleaned up. Also I know most of the original voice actors were team members so the acting varies. I'd have loved to have an option for the original voices.

i seem to recall trying system shock 1 or 2 back in the day. I cant remember now, but i think i got annoyed at all the key presses for every single thing you needed to do, or lots of different keys for the various different tasks... i cant recall exactly. Id come from Half life, that simply has a "use key" that did everything.

I'll try this at some point though.

Its not complicated at all key press wise, its how PC games used to be before everything was simplified because of consoles and that is now the new norm sadly.

You'll get used to it, enjoy :)
