T-mobile Pulse - Android touch phone.

Dudes, I'm thinking of getting a Pulse to tide me over until the end of Summer. I'm on O2 Simplicity at the mo, but the Blackberry I'm using has borked a bit, so I'm on a very old Moto V3i!

Is it still a good buy, or has it been superseded by the newer Pulse Mini? What I really want is a Milestone, but it seems like the Shadow could be only a few months away...

Cheers,

Su

It's still a very good phone and I'm sure you could get it for a decent price on ebay.
Definitely NOT superceded by the Pulse mini as that phone is a stripped down version of the Pulse and not an upgraded version (it doesn't have GPS for example).

Has anyone had a problem with the phone not charging? Sold my Mum's Pulse and apparently it won't charge properly!

There is a known issue with some Pulse's that the usb socket becomes loose and can cause problems with charging. I would return the phone to T-mobile as it will still be under guarantee.

Ok cool... how easy is it to unlock/debrand, and possibly get Android 2.0+ onto it?

Cheers,

Su
As said in another reply unlock it by using that link to modaco.I also recommend downloading and installing one of the modaco custom roms.I'm not on t-mobile so I stuck the basic 1.7 vanilla rom on my phone.Works a treat. If you do that i'd also partition your memory card so you can save apps to it,there isn't much memory in the phone for apps.
The pulse mini is a bit rubbish as well.Resistive as opposed to capacitive screen, smaller screen,no gps.
And 2.1 is supposed to be coming out later this month for the pulse.
I advise bookmarking this forum http://android.modaco.com/category/413/t-mobile-pulse-pulse-modaco-com/ as it's very helpful for anything to do with the pulse.
In answer to your original question - the pulse is an excellent phone. The best phone i've ever owned.

If anyone isn't sure about whether the Pulse Mini has GPS, it does. Cracking phone for £100, will be buying one this week to tide me over till my upgrade (a whole year!)

Just wish it had a resistive screen, still what can you expect on a budget as low as that.

So, we got the phone back today. The thing knows it's being charged, as it vibrates and then the face buttons all flash on and off every few seconds, with nothing on-screen. Any ideas, other than a faulty port?

Just a quick heads up, the T-mobile has now got official 2.1 support. T-Mobile Hungary have released the 2.1 upgrade. Head over to Modaco Pulse forum for more info.

Just installing now on my unlocked T-mobile pulse.

It is very nice!! Live wallpapers, exchange support, official twitter 2.1 client, improved googlemaps, improved virtual keypad. Overall the phone feels more responsive, apps open faster, so far I am very impressed.
