I think you've hit upon a good idea there. I shall create the finest army ever seen by mankind! My five unnamed soldiers of doom will destroy your Citadel rabble! :)
 
No1newts Tyranids vs Woogie Chaos Space Marines 1500 points

Turn 1:

The Vile Chaos Space Marines win the roll and move forward, rhino's gunning their engines and screaming their praise to the blood god! All their screaming seems to be for naught as a all they kill is a Hormugant with a locky bolter shot.

The even viler Tyranids surge forward, with the tervigon spawning 9 termagants (oh it has begun!). Hormugants charge raptors and despite 48 attacks dont kill anyone, lose 3 in return. Hormugants charge kharn, cause (56 attacsk) 1 wound but lose 4 in return. My standard of dice rolling clearly not gotten any better, over 100 attacks for 1 wound!!!!

Turn 2:

Chaos Marines on the east dive out of their Rhino ready for a scrap. Havocs on the west flank open fire on the mass of 'Nids on the east killing 4 hormugants and 3 gargoyles. Hormugants continue their good form with 42 attacks and not a single wound. 9 hormugants die to Kharn and Raptors in return killing 1 raptor. Advantage Chaos at this stage!

Tyranids charge Raptors ready for a real dust up! Swarmload, Shrikes and the Hormugants pile in wiping the unit out to a man! Kharn hit by Swarmlord psychic attack reducing WS to 1, you know your in trouble then, especially when charged by 11 irate Genestealers and a Broodlord!! Kharn goes down whining his praises to the blood god :p 48 hormugant attacks on marines kill 1 marine! (more fantastic rolling) 2 more killed by gargoyles in return for 4 deaths on the west flank.

Turn 3:

Reeling the forces of Khorne open fire ready to reep a bloody toll and that they did! About half a dozen trees, a wayward squirrel and magnificently bush about 6 foot behind the Havoc squad go up in flames! PRAISE BE THE BLOOD GOD! Chaos Marines on the east charge hormugants, losing one they then wipe out the remaining 8 hormugants. Khorne Bezerkers determined to prove better than their general charge a pack of 12 gargoyles and wipe them out completely in the first turn of combat (ouch!). Hormugants attack marines and kill 1 on the west flank.

Tyranids pile into combat to overwhelm the last of the marines on the east! Swarmlord, Guard, Genestealers and Termagents charge the marines who wiped out the Hormugants and kill them to a man (thanks again to the Sawrmlord psychic attacks reducing WS to 1). Shrike and Hormagents battle Havocs, some more abysmal rolling ends with 4 hormugants dead and only 2 Havocs dead despite being outnumbered 3 to 1. Hormugants battle marines west with over 30 attacks doing no wounds then losing three of their own in reply. Luckily for the 'Nids the amount of Synapse creatures I took were nicely positioned making them Fearless so I was weathering my cannon fodder getting stomped.

Turn 4:

Warp Talons put in an appearance eventually warping in right in amongst the 'Nids but being unable to assault on deployment they could be in trouble. Apart from that the Havocs are finally wiped out on the East leaving the east in full 'Nid control. Some Havoc fire from the west kills a few Hormugants. Chaos Marines finish off the last of the Hormugants on the west.

Tyranids go on the warpath! Swarmlord charges then swiftly dispatches a Rhino with almost laughable ease. Shrikes move into cover ready to strike next turn and then Genestealers, termegants and gargoyles kill Warp Talons to 1 man with a massed charge, not the luckiest day for the Talons! Termagents open fire on the west marines killing one before they all charge in killing another 2 and losing 2 in return. Tervigon finally stops pumping out Termagents now after 4 turns creating 43 termegants (massive help for the 'Nids)

2 rolled battle continues:

Turn 5:

no movement. backs to the wall time. Havocs on the west destory the 3 remaining Hormugants advancing from the east. Bezerkers are still pretty irate howling to the blood god and they kill 4 termangents with pistols then assault! Wiping out remaining termagents (about 12 or so!)

Tyranids close in for the kill. Raptor finished by stealers.

6 rolled game over.

So victory to the 'Nids (pretty clearly) on victory points as they only lost troop units and everything expensive (Lord, Shrike, Tervigon and Stealers) were pretty much at full strength) but there were some interesting lessons learned I think.

Special mention must go to the backward shooting rocket launcher wielding Havoc, my completely useless Hormugants (had over 200 attacks in the battle and caused around 5 wounds) but the biggest kudos is to the Swarmlord. DEAR GOD! The thing is unstoppable 2-3 to hit (with 9WS) monstorous creatue and his sabres meaning no saves rolling on a 2-3 to wound. Every turn in combat he made a complete mockery of anything he faced be it tank or marine. Shame he didn't get to face Kharn!

After the battle we decided to test just how hardcore the Sawrmlord was and let the Bezerkers charge him. With his iniative he struck first and took out 5 of an 8 man squad straight away. HIs bodyguard got another before the Bezerkers ineffectually slapped chainaxes off him. Added to his insane killing ability some amazing psychic powers and he was verging on unstoppable.

I'm sure Woogie will add to this but we agreed last night that assault army against a 'Nids army geared for assault is suicide. Would have been interesting to see a shooting army against them but the amount of fliers in the army and then the infiltrators (stealers) might make even that risky. The Trevigon was massive as well. He stayed in cover, but in range of my west flank stopping them from fleeing which tied up the whole west flank for the whole battle stopping them assisting the rest of the army. That and over 40 termegants spawned again helped bog down the CSM army.

Great battle and looking forward to the tournament, playing 'Nids has certainly threw them into the mix for which army I'll end up taking!

Yeah. Well, I think so. I've only written 1500pt lists, anyway! :p

Making much slower progress than I'd hoped. I had the parts for the front row cleaned up in about half an hour in total. The back row? Hour and a half. Starting to wish I'd bought more boxes of the older models. :/

Does anyone have a link or name to search for?

I'm not too sure.

I only got then when I was young but visiting museums/castles they always had them. Had around 15 different ones at one point. They might even be in my parents loft somewhere if I looked.
