Tabletop Warhammer?

Maybe it was just a very large box :D

I placed an order from eirehobbies Down South there on Wednesday and they shipped it and arrived next day via DPD next day all Ireland service. Think it was only around 5 quid and it did came next day.

Normally have a frustrating experience with DPD when it’s coming from the mainland.

So far I found Elements games comes next day via Royalmail including Saturdays. I use it when I can’t wait or my order is over 80 to get the free shipping.

Wayland games if I’m after the the free shipping and can wait. RM48 but they tend to take a day or getting the parcel to the hub. (20quid spend)
Eirehobbies are my go to when ever I buy colour forge sprays for the exact reason they use dpd!

Anyway my eldar arrived and the codex oh boy it is THICC

Took delivery today of a Harder and Steenbeck Ultra 2024, I only really bought it for priming my minis.

The adjustment ring with presets for priming, basing and fine detail work really is a game changer.

Vallejo white primer straight out of the bottle with a couple of drops of flow improver in the cup first at 30 psi works like a dream :)

I must have hobby ADHD or something. Can’t settle on which order for the Battle Sisters!!
Same as Slaves of Darkeness. Have no clue how how I want to paint them!! Space wolves are on hold until the refresh.

Black templars and all of the Army painter fantic effects paints should come this week. Painting them should be pretty straight forward. Black and ivory/ white robes sandy bases and maybe pigments.

Should be straight forward right?

Right?

Those are bloody brilliant.

I've decided because I love painting so much.. I've just got the other two sets from TTC with the rack and my nephew will be getting 100+ citadel paints with his birthday present next week.

I did consider that for a bit more I could get the Army Painter Fanatic full set which would be 216 Vs 120 paints, but then quality over quantity and I've not been impressed with anything from that brand so wasn't a hard decision.

Tbh I was eyeing up the full on set of Fantic set but switched to TTC. All the new relaunched lines for all the companies now are all top tier paints doesn’t really matter which line you choose just come down to personal preference or what bottle you like.

Army painter still have pretty big gaps in their line quite surprising since the sheer number of the paints going by the reviews.

From using the TTC line I have noticed some of the paints from shadow-med-high the jumps just ain’t big enough. Find myself trying to find other colours for the final highlight. Quite a few of the paints are also not coloured match to the GW line even though they say they are but most are close enough. I also find they go through the airbrush nicer.

Now have 122 paints from TTC nearly all the normal colours apart from some of the yellows and 1 red line. Have zero interest in their shades, effects or coloured metallics ( have no use atm for the coloured metallics but if I did I wouldn’t hesitate in buying them)

Hopefully by the end of the week I will have all the effects line from Army painter apart from the fluos and mediums. Only shades I will also be missing be red and blue. Don’t see the point when there’s dark red and dark blue shade! The shades have fully replaced my GW ones.

Updated hobby area. Waiting for the delivery before I start filling the racks up with my other most used paints. One of the best purchases I’ve made is that white Redgrass cutting Matt. Not that I cut anything on it but just the fact it’s large and white. Don’t lose parts easy and it’s just makes a nice bright background for when I’m painting. Can see everything better.

Was playing around with the AP shades and glazing for a few mins. You can see what I mean about the jump in values aren’t big enough with some of the TTC line. The AP is best in that regards. For me to grab another red from the TTC line I have no clue if I’m in the same temperature range haha.
used two TTC trios for the skull. Got a much better result.

Since I learnt basic colour theory, I'm not too fussed about having a bottle for every colour as it's very easy to mix colours to brighten them.
So having 180 total should be plenty, I'm not that advanced that I can just get by with three colour mixing like some of the pros lol.

There is deffo some duplication across the TTC range too, I'm sure I've even seen some matches to the same citadel colour twice.

Being colour blind is one of the main reasons why I went with TTC as they try to stay close to the GW paints so I can easily follow guides. It has quicken up my painting. Quick reference to the paint chart and most of the time I can get the perfect match and get the paint on the model.

Yup there are some paints that are very close. Off the top of my head one of the space wolves blue have two matching colours in the TTC for sure.

Can’t wait for AP effect paints to come to weather up the DeathGaurd a touch :D

Just can’t settle on a base scheme for them ahah

Aesthetically pleasing.

I really like the look of some of these coloured metallics. I assembled my Egyptian space Wizards last night so we'll get to those shortly.
Though seeing all the details on them I suspect I may lose the will to live long before I finish them

Nice.

So I tried painting a scarab occult terminator by spraying gold first and blocking in the blue, absolute hell, there is no way I'll have the patience to finish them like that and making loads of mistakes.
I'll have to try airbrushing the blue armour first and then doing the gold, I'm sure Ive been through this before with something else and preferred doing trim after. The majority of them is blue after all. I don't think the metallic markers will help here either because they will be too thick.
It's very hard to get to a lot of the parts on it. I probably should have done sub-assemblies on this one.
