Tabletop Warhammer?

Its depressing to see 40 y/o men playing with toys

I gotta say, considering the topics available for discussion on this forum are mainly specialist/hobby orientated this opinion is rather disappointing :/

I wish lol just quick gaming standard, I used to be quita handy with the painting back when I worked for gw, now i'm hopeless lol

Don't sell yourself short I think you're work looks fantastic.

To be honest I was personally think that this thread has done remarkably well, very little in the way of negative comments.

Perrywinkle, I really like those undead :)

I think I'll have to point my brother at Mantic games as he keeps wanting to do undead but doesn't like a lot of the GW models :)

I made it in to the garage again Wednesday night and managed to get most of the remaining bits base coated (I've got about a dozen bits that need doing). but haven't managed to get out there again since, as I've been feeling like something the dog dragged in:)

Give over they look really good, the shading is fantastic.

Me and the missus are just getting back into GW after a 15 year break, we've bought ourselves some paints, skeletons, goblins, chaos daemons and are working on some Dark Eldar bods we bought when we last decided to have a go (and never got anywhere).

I've also been stripping the paint off years old Terminators, Howling Banshees, Swooping Hawks and the other Eldar that were red and black with big rocket launchers (I forget the name!).

So far we've managed to do just a couple and we're remembering how hard it is to paint properly!

I'm a bit confused about shading and blending, I get about doing a lighter shade for highlights but how do you blend the two shades together so they create a smooth gradient of colour?

Just trying out some Army Painter spray paint at the moment. Colour is Pure Red and so far the coverage looks decent, although there's still the drying time to come. I need to build a proper 'rig' for spraying models on, though, to make sure that I can easily get all sides and the tops and bottoms, which in the past was slightly problematic given my simple cardboard box method. :p

Anyone got any tips for covering the whole model without applying too much spray paint? My plan was to put something together to hold the base so the model is at around 45 degrees, then spray the front, turn and tilt to get the other side. Crocodile clips, copper wire and cork, I'm thinking.

i use a piece of narrow pvc tubing and blu-tack the models to it, lots of small sprays all over is much better than a couple of long but poorly directed sprays.

I've been working on some more scenery from my board in my spare time, moved my room around too so now the board is permanently set up. It's a bit gash underneath so no photos of that, what I want to do is staple velvet round the long edges to disguise underneath where I can put boxes of scenery/figure cases and just other general detritus and for the end away from the wall I want to knock up a book/DVD cabinet to store all that stuff and also double as a table support. anyway, here's some pics of a suitable setup for a lord of the rings game, all of which could easily double for warhammer as well;

That looks pretty cool. :)

After a few hours spraying, I can definitely recommend The Army Painter spray primer; excellent coverage and it's lasting a fair while. Paint seems to stick to it quite well and the colour (Pure Red in this case) is quite nice as a base.

crikey, not played this for years, used to have a 3ft by 4ft square board for Epic 40k games, also had a 6ft by 8ft table in the attic for normal 40k. some battles of epic proportion where fought on that table between me, my brother and some friends.

also used to play mordheim and battlefleet gothic. sure i still have these 2 somewhere.

Gonna be playing a game against NathWraith's Imperial guard today after a long break from the hobby.

Got around 2500 points of Orkz, I've 'only' got 75ish boyz. You can never have enough Boyz! :D
