Tabletop Warhammer?

Could trust email Clarty, JHeaton and Brabbinho? They may not check the thread.

We'd also have to randomize good or evil for each participant to ensure we have equal sized sides. Then players could chose an army from the available options.

I'd hope we'd naturally have a equal split or people would be happy to split equally to make it happen.

If not there are some easy(ish) changes I can make to balance things out across both sides dependant on how the split lay.

I'll do all the prep and at end of season 1 we can float the idea and see what happens.

I can't really do Sunday nights unless I'm not at work the next day. :(

Campaign stuff looks interesting, Newts. In the games where less points are used, would this force be made up from the units in the larger 2k list?

I've created a version two of the document, just having a play round with some mission ideas :)

It would have to be different lists really, would be hard to get close to the points list otherwise.

I'm loving the campaign idea Newts. Would it be plausible to add in unit veterancy? For example, depending on how well a certain unit fought (and survived), it gains some sort of stat increase? Such as an IG unit fought off hordes of nids single handed and held onto an objective which meant victory for the IG and then that unit is carried over into the next battle and have gone from green recruits into battle hardened vets?

Just thinking out loud really.... :p

Yep I think the plan is to add various bonuses depending on victories. It would have to be minor stuff to avoid a side winning early on and then slowly getting ridiculously powerful :p

Some ideas:

Capturing an ammo facility lets you treat one squad as having master crafted weapons for the rest of the torunie
Winning an Annihilation against Orks give you preferred enemies against Orks for one squad/character.

I'm liking those ideas.

Will we be includng characters? Eg. Ghazkhull or Typhus? If so, if they die in an early battle would they not be allowed in future battles, because, ermm, they're dead :D Could this also have an affect on leadership stats for that army for the following battles or would that have too much of impact?

Again, just throwing ideas out there

Ok I've done a new structure (I think the original one would have taken ages and been tricky to do a plot for) I haven't finalised the mission types yet but basically there would be:

  • An initial Everyone vs Everyone game - 500 pts each
  • 3 rounds of 5 different game types, Commanders would nominate players for each games 1.5k pts for round 2, 2000 points for round 3 and 4
, bonuses would be earned based on battle results. First round attacker would be the winner of game 1. (and so on for subsequent rounds)
  • One of two missions again all play 500 pts each depending on which side has more victory points from rounds 2-4.
  • A final Apocalypse level battle, all play, 1500/2000 points each dependent on the result of the last battle as to which scenario!

Obviously this would all be tweaked based on numbers of players.

It would take a while to get everyone free at the same time, and the last battle in particular would take a few sessions but I think it would be worth it. What do we think?

Not a bad idea, I'll drop the completed version of mine in and we can tinker with that too.

At the minute we are having 5 rounds with 6 players so sp 11 for 10 is not too far of a stretch, though we can drop some of the larger group games to round down as that could be a little much logistically so it would be more8-10 rounds for 10 players.

I have all the missions developed as well as the team reward and individual vet rewards etc. I'll stick it all up later (more than likely wed-thur but I will try to get it all typed up this week) then we can mix and match and see what we think. I even have each round named at the moment showing it's place in the larger scale with each individual battle named, the maps are a little on the rough end right now though :p

Re points wise the group games were a lesser amount due to the sheer timescale of a 10k v 10k battle () but most other games were planned around 2k for your side.

Yeah I just think having a really big game would be an epic finish, maybe we could have a 1500 pt each battle? That way we'd need 3 lists, 500, 1500 and 2000.

I had the first round of the split games as 1500 just in case people are still picking up the rules for times sake.

just started playing, me and a friend went halfers on dark vengeance and some paints and stuff.

had a few basic games under our belts, nothing fancy atm as were learning, basically a small table with no structures while we learn rules.

its alright.

i bought the dark angels codex, can anyone explain what a physer is and what it does?

Liking the look of the rewards. What do you both think to the idea of doing something similar for Warlords that survive a battle and slay the enemy Warlord, to give a bit of character progression through the campaign? Might encourage some epic duels... :p
