Just doing abit of painting as its my day off. Taught myself how to paint black at long last but was just wondering the best way of painting and highlighting red? If I am using Mephiston red what do I mix with it to make the lighter and deeper shades. Is it just black and white or are there better colours to use?

I prefer dark flesh (doombolt brown from new range?) and Bleached bone (no idea what it's called now) They darken/lighten it without desaturating it too much.
I knew it didn't count in assault (all combat is against rear armour which is 11 anyway) I thought you meant it disappeared as soon as it was assaulted, as in not usable for the rest of the game.

Another 3 Legion of the Damned WIP for a friend. Squad total is 8 so once I get the arms and weapons done I will be 50% there. About 14 hours of work for all 4 I have posted so not too bad once I got going.
The hardest bit after wet blending the flames was probably the lettering as the scroll is only 12mm x 3mm and I had to use a brush and an ink that wanted to start running.

That's what I have in mind.
500 point lists are going to be the most interesting, going to be weird having multiple players with tiny armies trying to work together
With regards to ending up with even numbers I think this is the best way to do it I've come up with:
1. Get final player numbers
2. Everyone states their side preference (Imperium or Chaos as per Newt's list)
3. If we have an imbalance ask if anyone on that side is willing to change.
4. Once even, Commanders can volunteer/be nominated/decided by rock, paper, scissors, lizard, spock
