Tabletop Warhammer?

Hey guys, anyone here got a glass cabinet for displaying? I've found one on IKEA here:

43cm x 163cm

It's mainly for my Star Wars LEGO collection and I'm worried it's maybe a tad too small. Slightly wider, deeper and in possible taller would be ideal, anyone got any recommendations?

Is the plan to play DOW1 or 2? I'll be available for games once BT sort out my internet, hopefully Friday.

In other news, the ongoing Mythreal saga has finally ended and I actually have everything that I ordered. It only took 7 weeks

7 weeks? Ouch. :/

My connection at home still keeps dropping out, which I suppose is better than being off entirely, but I don't think I'll be playing any 40k until that's sorted. :(

Mig Pigments are also worth a look. :)

AK Interactive have some interesting-looking products that can do streaking, grime effects etc. which might be something to take a look at, too.

Aren't the Secret Weapon washes just made to the same recipe that Les Bursley uses?

What do you folks use to protect your minis once they're complete? I'm currently looking at various varnishes and I'm not sure what's good and what's not. I'd like to avoid gloss, but I don't know if matte would be tough enough, particularly on metals.

I have the army painter matte spray but I haven't used it yet (I keep reading horror stories about varnish sprays and it's putting me off!) I have a brush on gloss varnish for gems and stuff.

I used Vallejo Liquid Acrylic Matt Varnish. Works via brush or airbrush. Applied thinly in a couple of coats and works wonders. I then use GW 'Ardcoat for gloss bits like gems etc.

I have used it on all my Tau and so far they have survived. For reference I don't have a foam box for them yet so they all get chucked in a battleforce box and slide around. Contrast this with my Riptide WIP which didn't make it to 1 game and back in its own box without losing some paint :(

I've considered the Army Painter one, but I'm trying to avoid spray cans so I can do it whenever. Gloss on the gems sounds like a good idea, though. :)

Do you need to thin the Vallejo varnish before running it through the airbrush or can you use it neat?

I use it neat. Says on the bottle it is designed for both. Keep the pressure a bit higher than when painting and goes through fine. Hardest bit is spotting where it is on the model without going too heavy. This is probably easier on a model that is not white however!
