Tabletop Warhammer?

"The first in a new series of codex supplements"

Interesting - I'm guessing they're not just talking about Eldar here, so we could see supplements for CSM chapters for example?

Also, have they announced the price yet? If it's really going to be £30 with minimal rules, for each craftworld they do...

They're rumoured to cost less (£20 I think).

I would guess that Black Templars would likely be a supplement, and possibly both Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle would be supplements for a Codex: Inquisition if GW decided to go down that route.

Yeah this is clearly a trial run.

preorder is £25 on ipad so I imagine physical will be the same and the limited edition will be £100.

So that's £20 after discount, seems reasonable to me.

The codex is beautiful, £24 is fair value I think.

Mmm, maybe. I think it depends on whether or not I expect to actually play some games with this army. I think having something painted in the Iyanden colours would look cooler, but without a Crimson Hunter I'd probably be lighter on AA than I'd like to be.

Also, Wave Serpents are expensive. :(

Yeah, possibly. I think that would actually bug me, though. :o

I could always do one now and the other later, as I really do love both designs. :)

Trying to put a Wraith-construct army list together, it's working out rather pricey. Trouble is, I think they need the Serpents in order to be effective, given their short ranged abilities. :(

That is a lovely purple and gold :)

Joel I tried to make a wraith list but I wasn't happy with it. I think it can be the core of an army (2 wraithlord, wraithknight, 2 wraith squads and a spiritseer) but it needs other units in support for speed.

Yeah. I think that if I am to fit in enough supporting units, the Wraiths will have to be on foot. I'm having major problems writing any list at the moment, purely because almost every option in the book is worth taking. There are only two that stand out as being hopeless in comparison to the rest, those being the Banshees and Storm Guardians.

I'm definitely looking forward to playing this army. :)

I had this exact problem the first time I tried to write a Tau list, the armies both have a lot of good options and it's about balancing what you need to take out certain things.

A perfect example, Fire Dragons. They've got slightly more expensive, but with 3+ save and run and shoot they are better than ever....but do we need them? Now with cheaper Bright Lances, Fire Prism lances and lots of D-weaponry there are some very good anti armour options to choose from.

Trying to blu tack some Wraith poses together...Eldar are so slender and fiddly.

For anyone interested next months white dwarf cover along with one of the inner pages have been leaked, chaos, necrons and apocalypse players look set for some more fun! The new monolith looks absolutely awesome.

Given how during the tournament and Saturday's game, neither of us have really been able to make a significant number of Lance-type weapons work, I'd say a unit of Fire Dragons is an absolute must. :p

You make a good point :p

I was writing that report....and I'm still not quite sure how 19 lances didn't kill a single Annihilation barge.

Vincent, yeah I've seen the picture....the Chaos miniature looks terrible. The new Necron monoliths however look amazing.

Well it's not like they did nothing. They killed the Overlord's CCB and 2 ghost arks. I'm not sure if my rolling was bad or Joel was excellent at jink saves. One Barge survived 23 lance shots over the battle and only lost 1 hull point.

I think I was exceptionally lucky with the jink saves. It was almost as wonky as your Ld rolls. :/

Even without the luck I had when jinking, I think it's definitely a big change from 5th, because you don't even have to move your vehicle that far to get a 1/3 chance of negating a hit.
