Tabletop Warhammer?

Yeah seems like digital release of the wd rules. A warlord table was mentioned but I cant imagine there being a whole lot of work done since theres no models coming with it.

Whats your guys take on this list for 1999 tournament.

Librarian, lvl2, Mc Force Staff 90pts

Dreadnought,multimelta, power fist 100pts

9 Sternguard, 2 Heavy Flamer, 2 Combi Flamer, 2 Combi Melta, MC Combi Melta on Sarge, Drop Pod 303pts

Tactical squad, Flamer, Multi Melta, MC Combi Flamer, Rhino 210

Tactical Squad, Flamer, Multi Melta, MC Bolt Pistol, Rhino 200

Tactical squad, Flamer, Missile Launcher w/ flakk, MC Bolt Pistol 180

Grav Cannon Centurions, Missiles, Omni Scope, Land Raider 540pts

Las Predator 140pts

Storm Raven, Multi Melta, Las Cannon 200pts

1963pts

Free Aegis Defence Line ( Free fortification in the tournament)

Fairly obvious to see eveythings use I think. Missile tac squad mans the aegis. Dreadnought goes in Raven (purely because I magnetised it and think it looks awesome/ridiculous). Centurions try to kill something before they get totally destroyed.

Might add some more combi weapons to up the points. Any thoughts?

Done quickly in battlescribe so points may not be 100%

EDIT: beaten to the sisters comment by shami while taking 10minutes to type this on my phone.

I think it suffers from lack of focus.

Sterngaurd are dropping in first turn without support, so even combat squadding they're not likely to make back their points before being wiped out turn 2. The Centurions are...unbelievably expensive.

The Aegis line doesn't seem to really benefit anyone. I think you'd be better dropping the Centurions and Predator and getting a couple of Dev squads behind the Aegis line. Could even have points left over for a Storm Talon (or whatever the smaller flyer is) to support the Raven.

Another option could be Ironclad Dreads in a drop pod. AV13 is high enough that Plasma struggles with it (and there aren't as many meltaguns around as there were in 5th)

Could even get the third tactical squad a drop pod, walking with a flamer and Missile Launcher seems like not much threat for 180pts.

What is the Dread doing? If he's walking then the Multi Melta is useless, he'll probably be destroyed before reaching 12", he needs a pod.

I do realise the sternguard are unsupported and Ill try and see what I can do to sort that.

Centurions are expensive however I also view the dedicated land raider as a 4th heavy support choice. In my previous games the Land Raider performed well. Taking a load of firepower and usually lasting till the end or at least late on. I just think that 15 grav cannon shots are brutal and the raider helps them survive long enough to do damge.

The missile launcher swuad stays back with the aegis which is why I gave them flakk

The dread will probably end up going. My plan for him was to jump off the storm raven and melt a tank or whatever other target seemed good.

I could look at giving 1 tactical (or 2) a drop pod and maybe get an iron clad in a drop pod somehow or at least a dread in a pod.

EDIT: i coud add a 10th sternguard to combat squad and stick the libby with the centurions. That way if I roll well I could get the centurions a cover save of some kind

There's a couple of problems with sitting an entire tactical squad back though. Essentially you're paying 180 pts for 1 Missile Launcher. Flakk missiles are a pretty expensive form or AA and are not all that effective. You'd be better off just using the AA gun on the Aegis line. A lot of armies will stay out of bolter range and concentrate on the elements further forward. A better option would either be a minimum size squad (as you can now take a ML with just 5 men) or even a Scout squad with a missile launcher because the snipers can still be useful.

Ah yes I forgot the Raven could carry dreads, that's a valid option then.

I'd also try and upgrade it to a Lascannon, Missile Launcher's just aren't as good in 6th because there are far less light transports around.

Ok heres a couple quick changes. 1 more sternguard to allow combat squadding but-1 combi flamer, Iron Clad in a pod with dual heavy flamers or heavy flamer and melta, 5 man squad with lascannon on aegis, drop pod on 1 tac squad, Remove other rhino, remove side sponsons on predator. I may end up putting back the sponsons on the pred and dropping the melta dread.

Missile Launcher isn't really that good an all rounder. When was the last time you can remember anyone firing a frag missile to much effect....

They're highly overrated. Let's say you hit 3 Firewarriors. Assuming a hit you'll then wound on average two of them and they'll save one....so one dead Fire Warrior.

You take them for Krak missiles mostly and in the end for 5 pts extra you get a Lascannon with +1 strength and +1 on the Damage chart (for AP2)

Missile Launchers are average at everything, it's far better to specialise and take the best at what you're trying to do. If you want anti tank take a Lascannon or Multi Melta, if you want anti infantry take a Heavy Bolter, if you want anti TEQ then take a Plasma Cannon.

Ok so heres where I'm at currently

Librarian, lvl2, Mc Force Staff 90pts

Dreadnought,multimelta, power fist 100pts

Iron Clad, Dual Heavy Flamers, Assault Launchers, Pod 190pts

10 Sternguard, 2 Heavy Flamer, 1 Combi Flamer, 2 Combi Melta, MC Combi Melta on Sarge, Drop Pod 315pts

Tactical squad, Flamer, Multi Melta, MC Combi Flamer, Drop Pod, 210pts

Tactical Squad, Flamer, Multi Melta, MC Bolt Pistol, 195pts

5 Man Squad, Lascannon 90pts

Grav Cannon Centurions, Missiles, Omni Scope, Land Raider 540pts

Dakka Predator 95pts

Storm Raven, Multi Melta, Las Cannon 200pts

1995pts

Free Aegis Defence Line ( Free fortification in the tournament)

So thats where I stand at the moment. Not sure on the Dakka Pred on its own but I'm not sure what else to really add in to make up the points without changing a lot on the list.

Drop Iron Clad and Sternguard turn 1. Combat Squad the sternguard into Sarge+melta and Heavy flamers+Combi Flamer. Put Libby with Centurions and hopefully get a cover save from the libbys powers to help them. Raven comes on and drops dreadnought near something I need melted. Tac squads claim objectives. Predator supports the tac squads.

The Missions are

Game 1: Purge the Alien - Vanguard Strike
Game 2: Crusade - Dawn of War
Game 3: The Relic (with a twist) - Hammer and Anvil

Based on what was at the late night event ive seen. Imperial fists with 2 storm talons, khorne daemons, Tau with at least 1 riptide, Eldar with at least 1 wraithknight and Dark Angels. Ive also seen Iron Warriors, Blood Angels and Ultramarines going about

Yeah possibly some of the nicest stuff FW have made recently. I was always going to wait on them to add them to my chaos army but I really fell out of love with them after a few battles. Salvo weapons are a pain unless you have relentless/slow and purposeful.

Im just waiting for all the Salamander stuff they will bring out. A contemptor in particular....

I had a dream of painting up each Contemptor....then I worked out how much it would cost.

I must get one at some point though, the Minotaurs one is winning currently, that is fething stunning.

I really do love and also hate looking on their site, everything is so damn tempting to buy. If or when I do eventually finish my orks, i'd love to do an imperial guard army with a detachment of death korps of krieg.
