Tabletop Warhammer?

Nice. I am going to get a couple that match some existing ones I have to see if I'm just as **** with those or not.

so far every speedpaint I have tried against the citadel version is just superior. Particularly Dark Angels Green vs Army Painters Absolution Green.

The Absolution Green is quite literally box-art color over white primer and doesnt require a horrible thick layer to work correctly.

Interesting. Only thing I don't know, when I buy single ones how do I know if it's a 2.0, do they have different names to the 1.0 range? Don't seem to say it on the bottle from a pic I saw, unless it was a stock pic from old set.

Yea the bottle has a little 2.0 label on it.

Got myself a new 3d Printer. Been Printing epic scale stuff for Lengions Imperialis.

Nothing exciting, it's a Moirax with Lightning Locks. Just to add a bit of variety.

Not starting it yet anyway, tonight I am doing the boring weapons on my marines with Celestra Grey -> Ulthuan Grey -> a white edge. Have ordered decals for the shoulders to save removing/ruining the existing. Plus crap weather so not sure when I could prime.

Whipping out the #4 brush for weapons.

You know me I love a Knight so that is a bit exciting. What’s the quality like at first glance?

I do like the Mechanicum style knights, the armour has a cool look to it. I was gutted when they released all the Cerastus knights except the Atropos in plastic because it’s definitely the best looking one!

I’m on Marines at the moment but keeping it black for weapons thank you very much, I’m no pervert.

Have settled on my recipe pretty much now for my Blood Ravens. Got my armour colours locked in and happy with them, shoulder pads as well, just need to get the oil panel line colour and mix right, wasn’t happy with first try. But I think I’m all set really. Doing three final test models at the mo.

Ignore the shine, just done basecoats and then gloss varnish for decals and panel lining.

TBH I don't know as I didn't really look at it, put it straight in the drawer of hidden shame. Focused on getting the heavy ints and desolators done before anything else.

2.5h painting and all I have to show for it is some streaky white/off-white weapons. Mind you, they look good from 30+ cm away so you know.

I can confirm no stripping today.

Something I've noticed and now I'm wondering if it's a 'thing'. When doing a brush stroke, the paint is thicker at the end of the stroke and pools a little. It dries more solid too but that shouldn't matter hopefully by the end.
I try and finish on an edge but this isn't always possible depending on the size of what I'm doing. Is there some technique or whatever one should do with this?
Are you bending the brush bristles as you go through the stroke?

If you think of it like a tube of toothpaste as you bend the brush tip through the stroke (as you naturally curve in as you close your hand to move the brush) you squeeze more paint out of it.

You can try moving the brush more parallel to the surface to reduce but access can be hard. Or gently lift as you move through the stroke.surfce tension in the liquid can also "suck" some paint down as you lift the tip

Not sure but I shall now look for this to see :)

So painted up 90 tiles with the army painter 2.0 speedpaints tonight.

Mixed opinions so far.

Good:
The consistancy between them is absolutely fantastic.
Some unique colors.
Amazing coverage.
Very nice to manipulate and move around.
Easy to mix.
Metallics are great!
Big bottle of contrast medium.

Bad:
Drying time is considerably longer than citadel contrasts.
Some colors are just "meh". Hard to quantify this but I could say theres maybe 15-20 colors that personally will never get used.
A few colors are very same-ey.

Would I suggest someone to buy the full set? Honestly, no. Unless you have a whole variety of armies and settings, theres quite a lot that you are paying for that realistically will be going to waste.

There are some really fantastic colors in there that I cant wait to make use of, but at the same time, think that it wouldnt be too hard to put together a core set of 20 or 30 that are going to cover 99% of peoples usage without needing to pick up the remaining lot.

Would your chosen 20-30 be similar to the 'Most Wanted' set of 2.0 that I bought recently? (but haven't used yet)

I'm a big fan of the citadel contrast range (particularly for old hammer models with a grey seer undercoat!) so watching this with interest. I thought with regards to army painter the general consensus was they were not that great - so nice know 2.0 has improved.

Ill make a list later of what id suggest.

What's the yellows like? Imperial Fist is my favourite contrast paint ever. Handy when I don't have a yellow army.

Good! I especially like the miase yellow and pastel yellow.

Proper good review that @kindai!

I'm trying my hardest to stay away from contrast like paints at the moment, they were my crutch when I first started painting and i'm forcing myself to try new techniques (even if they looks a bit rubbish to start off with!) to try and broaden my painting skill, but those photos will come in handy if I do ever need to grab a contrast in the future!
