Finally finished my Grey Knights Nemesis Dreadknight, making the entire Grey Knights combat patrol box done.
I had to grind it out to finish it, it could be a lot better, but am happy the whole set is now finished to a consistent standard that looks good in the display case. I will likely add some more shading to the head a bit at some stage as it's easily removed. I magnetised the Dreadknight head, shoulder pipes and melee weapons so can I change out all configurations, including the much derided baby carrier head loadout, but I actually think the bare head suits the model, even though the helmet version is better overall and how I'll likely display it most. The ranged weapons actually clip on and off the arms with no magnetising required, though I did magnetise the cannon and chain gun barrels so they can be switched out. I can make most of the possible loadouts for the Nemesis Dreadknight, even though my having a flamethrower and hammer on the same arm isn't technically allowed, I can take them off at any time if I decide to game with it.
Made a decision not to add any decals to the left leg as per the box art examples, as I can't guarantee their perfect placement, I actually like the clean and simple red stripe on white instead, sometimes decals can look too sharp and detailed, any likely offset angle or placement was only going to annoy me, so I really appreciated not having to use any decals at all on the whole combat patrol set. They don't provide any in the box anyway, so I'm happy I left them off this model too.
The sword loadout is too tall to fit vertically in my case, so didn't spend much time on it, even the hammer loadout only allows about 2mm clearance from top of case. The whole patrol fits snugly in the same case type as the 20 marine display I did, I'll take pics of the final patrol in the display case for another post.
Only models I have left to paint now are the Elite Edition starter set from 2 years back with the Marine bikers and Necrons, and three McFarlane large scales, consisting of two Marines and a Chaos Marine.
Almost certainly won't paint anything until next year now and not buy anything until all of those are done too. Would really like to paint some orcs next, but should really clear backlog first.
Very glad to be done with it for the year, happy painting all.
Sword with fist melee only loadout.
Hammer with cannon on loadout
Base is magnetised and can hold another troop on it.
Full loadout, not game legal but as how I'll display it.
