Taiwan and China thread.

sounds like a lot of crap... who trained al Qaeda ? ISIS?

what was that country which sends its officers to be trained in the UK and then after they are used to shoot protestors?

oh wait my bad it's only morally wrong when our enemies do it

You seem to be arguing / getting outraged at a point I never made or touched on, congratulations.

Yea, I watched similar yesterday and now I'm a competent submarine captain, just waiting for the job offers to flow in.

You should see arknors views on farmers, apparently all they need to do is sow seeds at the start of the season then harvest them at the end, whilst just sat twiddling their thumbs for the rest of the year.

Not so fond of china as much the next guy but that guy seems way to happy sending china back to the Stone Age.

All we've done to buy their goods and make the country rich and all they've done is hack everything and cause indirect social global disruption. Frankly, they had it coming and if they haven't prepared to be self-dependent by now that's a lack of foresight

If any of that presentation is true then there is a good chance that China will be invading Taiwan within a year. So yeah, it's been nice knowing you guys but I guess it all has to end sometime.
Surely if this was true it be all over the online news sites and i haven't seen anythig about it yet

The CHIPS act is true. The US gov has pressured the Dutch company ASML that makes the machines that are required for lithography to make the latest chips from selling to China and the Dutch gov passed a law stopping them being sold there. Now the US is pressuring them to stop selling older machines to them as well. Also US companies own so much of the intellectual rights over chip industry.

Its well covered that China has a major population problem. Decades of single child policy and families not wanting girls so having abortions or even killing female babies have left them with not enough females for the young men they do have. Young people not wanting kids is also a problem. India has both these problem as well. It will take decades to solve but they don't have decades.

China tech is done

That is a terrible video....with regards to the exggerations.

I see his point but he has gone WAY WAY WAY extreme in many many points. Like way over, so much exaggerations and there is also a lot of misinformation, or if I put it bluntly, a lot of lies...or BS. I don't think they are going to the dark ages for one thing, or all of the sudden everything they have would stop working and start living in tree houses...dark ages is a bit extreme. China does import energy but this video left out the fact that the reason Japan invaded China in WW2 is it needed resources in China. China has it's own oil and gas resources, also, China can import resources.....do I need to say it??? Russia.

It will be a problem for them for sure but they are not stupid, and the video also ignores that they send a lot of their citizens abroad to study, go to any UK university and you will see lots of Chinese students and then they go back, the skills are there. The reality is that they will be cut off from the very latest cutting edge, 5nm, or 3nm chips, they can still make last gen chips and they do. They will fall behind, like stuck at the current level, for a while, but dark ages is just wrong.

The aging population problem is a different problem, nothing to do with dark ages or silicon chips. That is an economic problem.

ps, they are not really a communist society, that is just a name on paper, in practice, it's more of an autocracy. Communism doesn't mean you can't have good ideas, that isn't what communism is...if that's the case, then they couldn't invent how to type 10,000 chinese characters on a 88 keys keyboard. The US didn't invent that.

I realise this comes across like a China defence but some facts need to be said! This video is very badly researched, very shallow, too much exaggerations to the point that is is actually lies, it left out so much stuff that counters his arguments.

Seems the guy has too much bias for me to take too seriously.

Too much US flag waving, we are the best, individuality, freedom and whatnot. Japan too is a collective society (which is what he is trying to suggest, rather than communism), in fact, probably more a collective society than China, much more so*. No one can say the Japanese can't invent anything. Capitalism isn't a recipe for creativity or invention or even art or vice versa.

*Go to any hotel breakfast buffet and watch when the mainland Chinese tour group turns up and you will see what i mean...communism should mean sharing...watch how they just take everything like it's their last meal ever. This mindset came from the Mao era, through famine when there is little to go around so whenever there is lot of food, they take it, in case there are none tomorrow. Which is why public toilets in China have single sheet dispensers. People would steal the entire roll. Whereas in Japan, 1 public loo i walked into had like 30 rolls stacked on the wall.

Honestly, that video is very badly researched, 1% fact and 49% assumptions and 50% exaggerations.
