Taiwan and China thread.

If so then not really much use when it comes to population decline.

It's extra low cost labour, the physical location doesn't matter so much when they have manufacturing in Africa, as well building infrastructure and securing natural resources. China get a good deal out of it and can continue creating bubbles elsewhere in the poorer countries.

Does any other country invest so much into green washing?

China plants millions of fake trees and flowers, and paints them green

In the past they've painted whole mountains so it looks like grass is growing from a distance

The Ugandan men are getting annoyed the Chinese men are marrying and having children with their women.

I read similar about South Africa about a decade ago. There are 30+ million more Chinese men than women and some are starting families in Africa.

Sometimes watch this vlogger in Uganda and here they talk about a Chinese company manufacturing soap in Mbale and undercutting the original products on price. They think it's a good thing because they get a cheaper product and it increases employment. But over time this just increases dependence on China and they also get the benefit of exporting those products. Some of these countries where they earn less than £1000 per year are ripe for being comandeered and nobody offers the "full package" better than the Chinese.

I think we Westerners tolerated tomuch, and no one follows us by example but they always highlight it as an example.

The irony of a Ugandan talking about how some Indians are bad and some are good Indians... :D

You're having a laugh, the West has all but haemorrhaged its own culture away, the East has far more tenaciously held onto their own cultures. Culture is more than crass western styling clothing (made in Taiwan and China), and Apple phones.....

While I'm familiar with your views being a few decades out of date, how much clothing do you think is made in Taiwan these days?

I have no idea, I am fortunate enough to be able to shop more patriotically and selectively, and I certainly don't think in terms of "one human family" :)

How much clothing is made in Taiwan these days then?

Lol, we lost the culture war, and losing the rest of it daily.
  • English is the lingua franca.
  • Vast majority of media is Anglosphere or European in origin with Japan being the only serious competition.
  • Professional (for the most part)/casual (less so) clothing is pretty much entirely European design though various countries do successfully maintain their culture in this regard (especially if their clothing is climate relevant) it still seeps in.
  • We've pretty much completely captured the elites in every country (sending their kids to our elitist institutions is proof of that) so the wants of the respective middle-class in each country are also captive as a result.
  • Food thankfully for everyone's sakes is still fairly immune.
It might change a bit in the following decades but realistically I don't see how anyone comes out on top of this century long bludgeoning.
