There’s nothing wrong removing things that are greatly offensive to a large portion of society. And as people who live in the city have told you, the debate about this statue has been going on for decades. Long before this ‘woke’ thing some in here are terrified of.
Sure, you may want to boycott brands for things they’ve done but no one is advocating to shut them down. Let’s not get hysterical.

The statues wasn't built in tribute to his part in the slave trade though, it was built in tribute to the 'good' he did in the city.
And yet they could never come to a majority consensus to remove the statue, despite the decades of debate - that's the issue people have with those that tore it down. The will of the minority has taken president over the majority.
