Tearing down statues

Bullying racists and homophobes is a just and worthwhile endeavour.

I’m concerned there’s going to be an Elliot Rogers from here.

I’m sure that’s how colonialism and slavery was sold back in the day. We’re not enslaving them. We’re bringing civility and educating barbaric savages who don’t understand our Christian values. It’s ok to bully and colonise them because they’re wrong, I’m right and I know what’s best for them.

You’re not concerned. You’re simply using it as a way to try and paint those who disagree with you as extremists to attack and slander them.

And literally everyone has to Google Elliot Rogers because it was nearly 10 years ago and it's 1 American idiot in a nation of 300 mlillion American idiots. Where 100s of idiots shoot each other every day.

I'd be more concerned about 1 person on here
Learning to wipe their own ass or tie a shoelace. Just 1 not both.

Genuine lol at the whole of this post :D

You aren’t wrong, it won’t be long until an expose about incels or right wing extremists mention OcUK as one of the breeding ground gateway for hatred, or a member here will commit some kind of violence and their posting history on here will show their descent from here to Kombat18 or something.
I heard if you buy AMD you get put on a list at ocuk, it's called the despatch list and they disappear people allegedly.

anyone who buys a large storage drive also gets labelled as a conspiracy theorist cos that's one massive collection you must have

OK, your concern is noted, for what it's worth, but I have to say a computer gaming forum is an unlikely headwater for a far right racist or homophobic attack, most here seem to be more concerned with the price of video cards and where to find any, than orchestrating a massacre. I find I can dampen the effects of my own prejudices upon myself quite adequately by not attending gay parades and living in probably the most Conservative and old fashioned county in England. You seem to be somewhat obsessive with what occurs or has occurred across the Atlantic, my focus is far more local.

Staged? I'm pretty sure it was torn down. Do you mean instigate?

I would say that instigate is a better fit, although I’m not sure that the U.S. instigated it, although they certainly didn’t discourage it, although stage could also be used, as to stage means; “To produce or cause to happen for public view.”

Yeah, my apologies, it just sounded like "faked" when I first read it.

Anyway, I don't think the two instances are remotely comparable. The ISIS comparison is though.

That's my feeling. There's no more effective way to instigate regime change for poloitical reasons than attacking cultural heritage and history. Hence the reason for ISIS destroying landmarks, monuments, etc that didn't fit their ideological narrative.

That's what the BLM movement is founded upon. It has very little to do with "anti-racsim" and far more to do with political intentions.

They didn't destroy or damage the statue. It appears to be sitting well enough in a museum as per the defence that it's value was unaffected or increased per the spectacle of it's venture into the river.

Any sane person can see that the toppling of the statue and the throwing of it into the water was not done in an attempt to leave it undamaged, but clean. nor to increase its intrinsic value :)

Its now where it belongs, in a museum with placards explaining who he was, what he did and what happened. It can now be used to educate, not something it was being used for previously. I think the majority who want statues of people who weren't the best people in life removed, don't want them destroyed, they belong in museums.

.. and when did you last go to the history museum, or a museum ... the statue+grafitti now interred out of sight out of mind ... where is the next windmill;
at least sheffield decided to keep their street names

Can't see how much all the bristol blm policing cost - how much were the community facilities impacted by that - extinction rebellion there was 4.3M, 37M for London.

Time to scrap Churchill then

Do people honestly pass statues and get triggered like @Colonel_Klinck or what? Out of all the years I've passed statues, never did I once think I must take to twitter and get an outrage started.

Well, yes, some people evidentially do given its the crux of this 580 post thread.
