Temporary car (Warning: Contains fail)

that would still pass an MOT

MOT doesnt cover things like bodywork.

But it would cover structural rust, which that shot of the arch shows is pretty terminal on structural parts of the car (note: NOT bodywork).

So no, it wouldn't pass an MOT.

it had an MOT 4 months ago

theres no way that rust was substantially better 4 months ago.

Our roving loving friend needs to get the MOT history on-line and see what the advisories were (assuming the MOT test / pass sheet wasnt included in the sale as the list of advisories will have reached into 2 pages probably :D )

I think it would fail on exposed sharp rusty edges unless you went mad with the duct tape. So yeah, if you get pulled prepare for a bumming.

It can be as bent as it wants, as long as it doesnt present a hazard that passers by might hurt themselves on it.

It's sharp enough for that, like I said I got a PG9 put on my car for less.

I'm willing to bet there there isn't much left underneath those sill covers. That is by far the rustiest 400 I have ever seen; looks like a 70's Alfa after a light shower.

Fanboism at its worst.

Really really epic fail, you do know there are better and cheaper cars out there that just work.

:/

Im getting a Free V40 Volvo that can apparently go over speed bumps fast.

OP think on the bright side, the scrap man will give you 30p when you are done with it :D

Not likely. There wouldn't be any metal left to scrap at this rate!! In a month It'll be held together with polyfilla and duct tape :p

Truly an epic fail of a purchase :D

Gotta love winding up Motors with it though.

I reckon it needs a tin of Hammerite, and lots of internet memes painted all over it. In really bad painting :p

Jesus Christ £250 hahahahahaha.

Then I saw the repair job on the roof!!!!
Stop, please, my sides are hurting.

Do yourself a favour and go get something that hasn't got a failboat for an emblem

You'd rather use cattle transport which is expensive, slow as hell and filled with other people rather than a private car, with aircon, and a loud stereo ?

Some people are too worried about how stuff looks instead of looking at it from a comfort and practicality point of view.

That said, for 250 quid in the UK, I think he could have got something significantly, erm, better. Like James_N's Volvo.

I would say that a leaking roof has a pretty high impact on comfort as well. It's bad enough suffering condensation at this time of year with just a small leak in a window or door seal let alone an unplanned hole in the roof.

Forgot about the exhaust on the 420, yeah that was well gone :D

It took me a while to learn that A/C in 100,000 mile old cars that are over 10 years old isn't something to expect working.

And I got rid because I got bored, and wanted something different. Right now I want my Ti back so badly, that was a nice car.

All three of the cars I have owned which had aircon were over 10 years old and over 100K on the clock (in one case 270K) and the aircon worked on all of them.
