Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

Just downloaded this for the ps3. Any tips to getting better ore ? I can only find tiny amounts of iron and copper :/ digging deeper at the moment is no go as I can't kill the giant worms

At the start you can try running across the surface and exploring natural caves. Be sure to regularly dump your gold/silver coins in a chest at base though as you will die often.

If you haven't already done so, you can take empty chests from where you find them by using a hammer. This will save you a lot of iron at the start of the game.

Weapons like the handgun and the murasame are a lot worse to lose as there are only a few of them on the map and they're used to craft more powerful weapons.

Did you ever move your home from the corruption border? I remember you always having eaters attacking you in your home.

I think I gave up on that house, the eaters were too brutal :p Built small shelters all over the map (as you have to on mediumcore). But in the end after loosing all my gear in some place I couldn't get back to, I got the hint and re-rolled softcore :D

P.S. Is there an OcUK Terraria server still? I haven't tried 1.1 yet and might actually give it a go, while we wait patiently for Starbound beta :)
 
Been playing this all weekend, have known about the game since release but I didn't know there was a lot more to this game then meets the eye, I was given this as a gift on Friday and its been the only thing I have played/done for the last 2 days and Friday night :D

Gameplay starts off a bit slow and simple then after a bit it OPENS UP! it really feeds the need to explore in a game.

So does anyone on here still play it I know its old but are there any good servers going? or if anyone want me to host a game I can start a map fresh just for MP.

It is very hard to hit the ground running at the start. Particularly if you're new to the game. Once you get settled somewhere you can call home (ie. you have a house with a bed and crafting tools :p) you can start expanding and creating houses for NPCs. Seriously addictive game once you get into it.

Chances are once the new content gets released there will be a surge of people playing it again so as long as you don't burn yourself out of the game before then, there will be a MP server going then.

I did struggle at first but am really into it now, got a grappling hook, some merchants, the nurse, gold armor, a 'base' I built a ladder to a sky island but still can't find a KEY, I also killed that giant eye boss thing, have seen but not defeated the flesh wall yet. Been on the terrania wiki a lot too lol

I do hope so :) I could never play this sort of game offline, but online it's great :)

Also if you enjoy Terraria, look into Starbound, which is the same game (ish), but a lot bigger in scope. Coming soon :)

Yeah avoiding the wiki is difficult :p

You might get lucky and have a key drop from an urn outside the dungeon but that isn't likely. Its good to have found a sky island though.

I remember the first time I played. Corruption screwed me over so badly. I rememeber going around with a crap load of stone and making myself a tunnel over the surface just high enough to walk through with doorways incase things spawned inside it so I could get across it. It got a little silly when i was trying to create tunnels down into the chasm's, particularly when the corrupted worms turned up ><
 
I know I'm way behind but I managed to open up hardmode a few days ago and its sucked me right back in!
I feel pretty weak so the hunt is on for precious ores for better weps and armor. I really want angel wings too but those wyverns are gits! :D
