Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

It's a shame you can save building layouts allowing you to 'paste' them in to a new map (providing you have sufficient resources).

I might join you guys online, I've only played 12 hours though so I'm only half copper and iron clad.

One issue is the girlfriend, I rarely play games and she's getting a bit tired of my new fascination/incessant mining ... the problem is I dislike playing with no sound and/or headphones!

So anyway, I have a very large decked area out back I could bury her under, but it might slow down my online appearance somewhat.
 
As much as I'm enjoying the game I'm really struggling. I've spend about 6 hours mining stuff, and I can still make rubbish. I've not really found anything, guess I should look at a wiki or something but meh :(

It's probably worth waiting 'til Friday for a server reset, as that's when the next patch (1.04) is expected - and it's suppossed to bring new items, mobs and possibly even new biomes (*over*ground jungle was shown off on terrariaonline). I expect the patch will require a new world to be generated in order to create new biomes.

Sounds interesting - not that I even know what biomes is/are!
 
Re: biomes - it's just the name they're using for the seperate areas (eg Jungle, Corruption, Hell, Dungeon, Desert etc)

lol tell me about it. One day mine walked in and was like "oh you built a little house - that looks fun! Nicer than that zombie game you play" (l4d2 :p)

I went along with it and said "yeh look... I can make FLOWERS!" She approved at that point.

Now though... lol, she just thinks "what the hell are you still doing on that"

I was more excited than she was when I found a glowing mushroom, she smiled, laughed a little and then her face turned to one of pity ... I can understand why, I'm supposed to be a grown man! :o:D
 
I just realised I've an enchanted boomerang in my inventory that I've not used!

Finally have a full silver armour set and a gold sword, getting there slowly.
 
Is it OK to save the game anywhere i.e. if I save whilst way down a mine shaft do I keep all my mined items AND return to spawn the next time I load?
 
i think if we did a reset it would be an idea to make a second world, make loads of chests and transfer all the stuff over that way, have a moving team to take the inn down etc and rebuild? another idea is to have a main server for all the houses, businesses etc and then have other resource worlds branched off from the main one, could have weekly resets on resource worlds then.

Once you get to the jungle and you get the thorn chakrum or whatever it's called, you're rollin'! It's quite easy to get. Just kill 30 hornets and a load of plants.

Yes. It's also a good idea to keep moving your coins to a piggy bank that you can carry round with you. That way if you die, you don't lose everything.

If I remember correctly, it should be possible to transfer over buildings. There's a program which takes a .png file and creates a world file from the image I believe.

There's also a generator which creates a map with multiple dungeons etc.

So, in theory, we could create a new world, output the worldviewer PNG, splice the buildings from the old world's PNG onto the new world's PNG, and Bob's your uncle - new world, same buildings.

If you use the viewer on the current world, I'll have a go at doing it if there's time before Download :)

actually, it'll be after Download, if we're waiting for the 1.04 patch.
Anyhow, it should be easy enough to do :)
