Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

I swear I posted in this already...

The generator does not work, as Neil said. The water reaches roughly halfway down the generator then disappears. If you go further down the generator, it works fine. That is around 100 foot above the start though, so the other 400 foot was wasted time. Unless there is a way of fixing this.

Shame, it took a lot of us a long time to build it!

Try posting on the terraria forums?, i've done a video and will upload it to youtube tomorrow. You can use that if you want

I made a thread in the Terraria forums. I also found a way to get infinite water without using buckets. I shall try that. The generator that we built tonight will help in this, so it was not a total waste of time.

Here is a video showing the size of the generator:

If you watch my two other videos, you will see why it was a failure.

*Edit*: Thanks a lot for telling me to go to the Terraria forums! I know of a way to make it work now.

Edit 2: I know how to make an infinite water generator that doesn't require any effort to use, but I still want this one to be like it is. I'm taking it all apart bit by bit and remodeling it. It's too late at night for me to destroy the old one and make a new one, so I'll start tomorrow. It's not about making something that's efficient, it's about making something grand! :)

In order to get a generator of this size to work, you need to throw a whole lot of water on to the top block for it to reach the bottom. I tried building an infinite water generator right at the top, and the water did indeed go very far down (as far down as I had built), however, there was a slight problem.

The "infinite" generator is not infinite. It ran out of water. I shall try to fix this, though I'm unsure how. Maybe it just ran out because of a bug, or maybe they are called infinite because nobody has ever used one long enough for it to run out lol.

Edit: Think I found the problem, will attempt to address this.

Hi all :)

I've put ~50 hours into Terraria, and I now have pretty much every single high end item. As such, I'm going to start a new character, as it's all a bit too easy :p

So, rather than throw everything away, I've put my world online for anyone to jump on and grab whatever they want:

server address is uvmain.dyndns.org. It's on my fileserver, so if too many people join, it may chug a little ;)

Still take anything you want :)

ENJOY!

Something is a little weird. I can start the infinite generator at the top, and it lasts for ages. If I run down to check how far the water has fallen, then the water stops coming down. When I run back up, the infinite generator is totally empty.

I think it might require two people for it to work, one at the infinite generator and one following the water. If anybody is able to run over (right hand side of screen) to do a test for a few minutes that'd be awesome.

Don't suppose you've got a Muramasa going spare? :)

The game just will not let the water split that many times, no matter how you try to go around it. In the end, I used the top half of the generator on it's own. I think it was only something like 60 blocks wide... pathetic! At least the ocean is full (mostly). I used an "infinite generator" to supply the water for the splitting section, and the generator eventually ran out of water. Most of the ocean is restored though. :)

Somebody needs to go check if sharks are spawning in there now. I saw some jellyfish in the vid below, so sharks should also come. I'm going to take the wolf for a walk. Vid of the rubbish ocean creator:

Have fun playing all!

And thanks to everyone who helped, great shame that it didn't work out.

Is somebody able to get me a copy of the world file so that I can try this in single player? I have an idea that may fix the gen but it definitely won't work multiplayer (not cheating or modding).
