Tesla Model Y

So with the cost of the model 3 now being the same cost as the model y (midnight silver metallic, standard wheels), I'm tempted to replace my 3 for a Y.

One downside; the mrs has ordered a y... she won't be happy if we end up with the same car :D I just can't justify paying £6k more for a 3 (compared to Sep 21) and getting a smaller car, plus the lead time is 5-6 months more on a 3.

Had some lease quotes on the Y sitting in my inbox for the last 2 days and it's getting hard to resist. Seriously tempted to just tell her that Tesla have agreed to replace my 3 for a Y and "deal with it"

Interesting comments - the Q4 interior is better quality than Model Y, for about the same price! The Y doesn't even come with a rear parcel shelf - that is cost cutting to the extreme ! Even Dacia's come with those.
When you say cost cutting for the Q4 interior - it's a £50k car, not a £200k Bentley !! So of course some materials will be cheap.

My B9 A4 was noticeably nicer inside than the Q4 was.

This will sound like I'm an apologist now but that's a bonus for me tbh. One less thing to remove when you're carrying large items... plus I don't think I've ever put anything on that shelf.

The Hong Kong markets have one though with side moulding which is odd, Shanghai car.

Main benefit of the shelf is security seeing stuff in the boot not a storage space!

I have one of those pull over type thingies, it does the job, but it does spend more of its life in the boot or garage then covering anything in the boot. I do wonder why the don't make it a cost/no cost option though, especially in the Euro market.

I've wrapped our parcel shelf from the Polestar in clingfilm and stored it in the garage. Never seen the need for them since the days I fitted some 6x9s in a Ford Capri shelf.

Parcel shelf stops noise propagating through cabin from rear wheel arches (... one of the downsides of estates too - 3 series luggage cover not very useful)

You have to get it in the same colour as your Mrs' one too. Do it.

Ha! I’d never go with the white… too common.
