Test Drive Unlimited Gameplay Thread

woooo found all of the car garages finally. (the damn pontiac one by the airport was hiding itself).

Just ranked up to the expert level now after doing a load of the model, hitchhiker challenges.

Got myself a nice black stage 3 tuned Skyline now to replace the jag XK which was beginning to annoy me with its stupid 1st gear.

Going to look at doing some of the larger challenges now.

i know i might get some stick here, but is the a Harley bike shop?, cruising around the island on a chop etc, would be cool:)

Nope, just Triumph, MV, Ducati and Kawasaki I think.

Nismo currently giving me a spanking, I'm in the damn Saleen rocket ship with lard on the tyres.

I love that MV bike :p

I went off at one corner (think it was the last race) purely because I couldnt see the road for all the dust you were kicking up :D

I thought best of 3 was fair, so quit after that as I was in the middle of trying to find all the roads ;)

OK I hate you all. I've managed to resist temptation so far but after spending 2 hours just collecting and modding cars in Saints Row I realised that I just LOVE the idea of being able to build up a garage of exotic machinery. 444 posts of temptation have just tipped me over the edge :p

Tesco here I come :o

mmmmm RS4 goodness! I know what my cruiser will be now.

Hmmmm I still havn't unlocked the bike garages even though according to the map I have located all of the `car garages?! Are there any ones I may have missed?

Could anyone please list the garages they found hard to find or something as I am doing my nut lol.

Cheers

Have a look at your map and see if you can see any car dealerships that are shaded grey, that means you havent driven or discovered those...once found set your gps to them and off you go.

Still no luck in trying to tune any of my cars...any ideas as i cannot see any tuners on the map whatsoever...must be doing something wrong i guess. Still dont understand how you guys have loads of cars and houses...you guys doing some sort of hack??:p or is it just a case of re-doing the same challenges over and over??. Havent been able to find any other courier or transport missions...guess thats where the big money is i suppose.

So any ideas or help as to where to find these so called tuners and how you get more money??.

I'm sure it tells you in the tutorial part at the start, failing that its listed in the manual ;)

Thats my point - either it should tell you how to use everything vital, which has to include the map, or it shouldnt tell you anything - some arbitrary choice in the middle is ridiculous I think - but I certainly didnt get told how to use it

Explorer thingy.

Is it a percentage value? Do you have to highlight every inch of road or just drive on that bit of road once?! I spent hours last night driving around, checking the GPS etc. I'm at 81/100 so far, lots of highway to fully cover, do the on and off ramps count too? It's a little confusing.

Well I'm not so far off fully complete. I had people chasing me online while I was doing 360's in the middle of the road in the Sagaris, coving a whole estate of roads. Great fun. You learn a lot about car control, esp in a stage 3 Sagaris with no Driving Aids :D

This game for me is much better than GT4 etc. It just reaks of speed. The supercars feel like supercars, its fast, but not accurate. But you get the feelings from the cars you would expect from real life. I love the bikes too. Maybe a little twitch when not learning forward, but in cockpit view it just feels great flying past cars at 200+.

ok,

loving this game so far.

one gripe. how do you raise and lower the roof's on the convertibles?

I have the slk, but the roof dont budge. if you cant do it in game, they should have given you the choice when buying, annoying. The roof is down the s4 cab, can you put it up???? lol

Tuners show up under key locatons as spanners. I don't think you can access them until you have found all garages. Hovering over them shows what cars they wll tune. As for getting money fast, do the vehicle transport missions. You get £135k a pop for those :)

Cheers bud, finally someone answers my questions lol:p. Ok well seems like the tuners are all locked to me so that sucks..guess ill just have to keep on playing and playing lol.
As for the vehicle transport missions??, those are the ones where you take the car to either get repaired or taken back to the rental agency right???. If thats them then so far ive done 3 of them, the only ones i could find but they were between 75k to 90k...havent seen the big money ones yet. Although so far ive only found 3 of them, guess ill have to cruise around some more tonight to see if i can find any more.

Anyone have any answers as to what you exactly win when you complete a hitch hiking mission??.

You get a bonus for the car transport missions if you complete the misson without any damage to the car. $45k for the $90k cars. There is one $99k misson that i have found so far.

You get clothing coupons for the hitch hikker missons

Found the last garage last night by chance lol.

I was missing the damn half hidden pontiac one down by the race track.

Does anyone know how I can get ot the island race track?

I had a message come up to say it has been unlocked but I can't fathom how to get there. (the one over to the right of the island with the liner docked at it)

Also to answer the question above about whatyou win from the hitchhikers missions well its the same as what you win from the model missions vouchers to buy clothes.....ooooo wow I WANT MONEY FFS :p

Same as me, some of the time challenges are annoying!

Some of these Time trials are stupidly hard while other are a piece of cake. There are two Ferrari Time trials on champion, one I finished with 30 seconds to spare and the other took a few attempts and then I only made it my a second or two. The worst has got to be the Tantalus time trial which starts in the hills and finished on top of the crater. It uses A class, oncoming traffic and that bar which goes down if you go offroad or crash, it had me tearing my hair out!
