*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Have you tried doing tuck planche press ups? On stands hammer grip style. They really isolate the triceps. Unfortunatley I don't have the power yet to get a full rep out. I get a bit of movement and can hold it but just can't quite get there.

I haven't posted in this thread as of yet :o

On my third week of this and it's interesting to say the least: http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance/lift_fast_get_big%3bjsessionid=EC49BCC5CD01CF6A32FA3D2B8416AE7B.hydra

Interesting article, specifically doing exercises with fast form, not a slow tempo for superior results. There is an article i've read recently about lowering the weight fast and exploding back up, it puts much more stress on the fibres and creates better over all strength and size, il see if I can find it.

Not tried - but not something I'd do after 30+kg dips or 100kg CGBP! :p

Thanks.

I'm quite looking foward to it as it's not 'beginner' based anymore so it's not focussed on safe instruction and demonstration of exercises but pushing the client with various different training methods. A little bit more indeth on the biology/physiology side but nothing I can't handle hopefully!

Hoping to learn a few principles or two that I can apply to my own training.

Moved up to x2 24kg Dbs for Bench today even after a long layoff since before xmas.

Going well, and have an appointment with a trainer for an hour so I can see if he can teach me to do squats and deads properly. Knowing my luck he will be a 5ft skinny abs boy :p

I hope you pass soon I need to be taught new things!! Do I get free training?! :D

Haha maaaaaybe.

Hopefully if I have the same chap teaching as before he's got a few interesting concepts (like the one about ab training I touched on briefly a while back). Seeing as we'll all be Level 2 qualified hopefully we can go 'off syllabus' every now and then.

I don't think it's going to be anything ground breakingly new but might bring up a few methods we've forgotten about! Both CV and Resistance. Going to have to make sure I've not trained the day before each teaching weekend as we will be experimenting with said methods ourselves so being stiff as a board from DOMS wont help!

Edit: Nice progression -Ad- :) Let me know if this trainer teaches you the 'get set' position for deadlifts and mentions anything about flexability.

I've been watching that Mark Riptoe vid a lot thus will be using that technique. Will see what the PT says :D

I'm about as flexible as a window, so we shall see!

+1 -Ad- and that video did wonders for me, just follow it to the letter and you cant go wrong:).

Hi guys :)

I am currently doing a 5 day split just working each muscle core at a time I find it works best for me :)

Like,

Monday = Chest
Tuesday = Shoulders
Wednesday = Arms
Thursday = Abs and Back
Friday = Legs, lower body.

Just standard routing exercises for each muscle group, noting too serious. I’ve being doing this now for around 10 months and have seen some good gains :) Using no supplements whatsoever even whey products. Just stuck to clean healthy diets. Started off around 69Kgs with no muscle whatsoever, my arms were like sticks the same for my legs, now am currently 84Kgs yes not all that is muscle I agree but overall a huge difference :) I‘m no hardcore gym rat, just somebody who loves to work out and enjoys the feeling knowing my body is growing for the better.

Do you not find training arms the day before a back workout hinders your grip slightly for pulling?

10 months? :eek: Get a new routine! nothing works for ever!

I'm quite obviously not an expert but unless you've hit a plateau is there much point in changing a routine that appears to be working? I appreciate that at some point you will hinder your development if you never change but even if 10kg of the 15kg added over the 10 months is muscle than doesn't seem like a terrible return?

Aside from the physical benefits of switching up a routine though, I think I'd die of boredom after 10 months of the same one :p

True enough but assuming that you had a boredom threshold that could deal with it then if progress is still reasonable is it worth changing just for the sake of it?

Probaly not although changing the exercises about a bit might help for better development and stop imbalances occuring?
