*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Zyzz openly admits he is on the juice, and he has also been subjected to hatred from 4chan because of his "You guys will never be as awesome as me!" attitude on 4chan.org/fit/ which consisted of rumor generating and such - so he may not be gay. :)

doesnt really matter if he juices still have to diet train and rest just as hard as the rest

he's in great shape and probably met his goals so fair play

All the time. I usually take it as a complement because most people assume you can't lift big or get big without them. Having said that, if I was asked outside the gym I'd probably take it differently.

You'd beat them up and then tell them "that wasn't roid rage, if it was you wouldn't be walking out of here"?

It's the picture taken 5 seconds after that when he's whispered in the girl's ear "I want your brother instead" that you should be looking out for... ;)

I've got no idea if he is or isn't gay and it doesn't really matter in terms of appreciating the effort he has put in, sure the assistance will have helped but there's still a hell of a lot of work to do to get to the level of leanness and muscularity he has.

I'm going to guess that it's easier to get your abs, serratus, etc. showing like that (and staying that way) when you're an ectomorph. Is that right?

Yes, it's bound to help as that bodyshape would naturally be more disposed to building muscle and retaining it as I understand it. Again though it's usually going to involve a huge amount of effort and/or help to get to that level and maintain it for an extended period of time.

Thats fair enough, I was just wondering if the bar you had only went up to 30kg, which wouldnt really be enough weight to get good use out of doing deadlifts. Also if you can afford to save up for a home gym surely you can afford to pay monthly for a membership?

I'm not going to question how you choose to spend your money though and if you can currently do all the compound lifts then you'll be able to go far.

No idea what the bar goes to, presuming it goes to the weight that the weights were that came in the same box :p

Question away, as i've stated i'd love to but I just can't due to other things going on in my life, I like coming home and being with my partner still every evening at the moment as we've only been together just over a year heading towards two, so things are still nice.

I'd love to join one though, its just time and everything really...Might look at the school gym as mentioned at my work as Wednesdays and Fridays I finish earlier than my partner so I normally have an hour to kill at least waiting around untill I can pick her up (Works 5 minutes from my work you see)

Havn't posted in here for a while, but am now currently on a cut and the aim is to get to as low BF as possible.

Have got my diet tailored by James over on MT, its a 20week diet with all different scenarios mapped out for me, and 2 weekly reviews.

Have been on it now for 19days, and have dropped 12lbs and 1" on my waist, so not to bad going so far. Just looking forward to the final result to see if i can hit my intended target

Am still following stronglifts but at 5ft6 and 65KG starting to find squatting at 95kg is tiring for 5 sets of 5, just wanted some reassurance that switching to 3 sets of 5 for now would be a worthwhile substitute, still trying to get the most out of stronglifts.

Also, what weight should I be looking at getting to at this height?

ON a side note, after suffering horrific lower back pain from deadlifting i've done a bit more studying on the net and found just how bad my technique was, have switched back to a neutral grip instead of mixed and managed to deadlift a new pb of 100 Kg. Unfortunately I just didn't have the grip strength to do more than one repetition at this weight even with chalk, any ideas what I could do to improve this? Or just keep deadlifting as my progress up until now was using a mixed grip?

Absolutely none of them would be anywhere near as big as they are if they didn't juice. I really, really don't understand why many cannot see this point. :)

Obviously it helps you get bigger/shredded BUT to be that muscular/ripped he still has to train/diet very very hard.

a lot of people write off good physiques with the excuse "oh hes on gear" - and you do get big guys with med/high BF% who use gear just to be big - but to maintain really low BF% even on juice is a big strain on the body / life style and you have to be 100% committed to do it.

If gear was completely legal I'm sure we'd all be using it :)

Anyway on another note I'm now four weeks into WSB 9 week powerlifting program and am already v v close to my PB (bench and squat) and for reps (i.e. last nights low box squat was 140kg for 5 reps). Will 1RM in week 9  Then I'll update the PL total table.

Some people don't have to diet that hard to be shredded. I'm incredibly fortunate enough to be one of these people, I binge on Chinese/Persian/Indian food a couple of times a week and hardly eat pure lean foods yet maintain a muscular physique with relatively low body fat. Obviously to get near that size in a short time span I'd have to take hormones.

To change the subject...

Just done quads followed by back. Why I chose this combination for today, I have no idea, I feel like vomiting. It's awful, I hate legs. :(

Right time for a huge massive question time, from me regarding: Cutting
So I know it's totally the wrong time of year to cut, but I started at an awkward time and put on so much weight i'm having to cut through the Autumn and winter, fail I know. Anyway, questions which I hope someone can enlighten me on (There's quite a few(Also 1 other thing to note, I know that the somatypes don't really exist, but it's the easiest way to describe me as being an endomorph, finding it extremely easy to lose and gain weight, so try and bare it in mind when answering if you know anything specific to that)):

1) How many carbs are too many and too few when cutting, what's an average daily amount to take in when cutting
1a) Also am I thinking correctly that carbs should be varied depending on the day, so on training days you eat say 150g of carbs, and on non-training days you only eat 100g

2) When training should I stick to lifting the same weight i have been previously, or should I keep trying to increase the amount of weight I train with (If possible), or is it better to say pick up a lower volume routine whilst cutting and then going back to high volume when I bulk again

3) Sugars = bad, right? Sauces to put on food, juice drinks and everything else, I should avoid these at all costs? How about fruits, are they still okay or is it better to avoid them?

4) When I measure my recommended calorie intake to keep my weight level, I have to knock the calorie intake down by 500? Or is that too much and should I go for something like 300 at first?

5) Cardio, how much cardio is too much? I heard high intensity cardio is bad for maintaining lean mass, and that it should be kept to a lower intensity, roughly how much cardio a day is good to help speed up fat loss but also retain as much mass as possible
5a) Also cardio everyday, or just on the days I don't train?

6) Protein and fats, do I need to take in less of these when cutting? Is there a formula to calculate how much is needed per day?

I know a fair bit about losing weight, but not trying to retain as much lean mass as possible, I'm not cutting for another month either, I just want everything ahead of schedule so i can plan it out when I do get to that point so it's an easy transition.

Thanks for any help.

Psh, you'll get told off for saying that here, you have to love training legs, hate training arms and not take any supps :p:p:D

I agree they still work hard, and because they are on the juice it allows them to work harder - but that's still my point, I suppose, that they wouldn't be able to get those gains without the juice - be it because of the direct effect (i.e. the increased hormones promoting muscle growth) as well as the indirect (reduced recovery times, etc.)

However I do admire the dedication. Zyzz, for example, only goes 'out' 3 or 4 times a year. The guy lives in the gym. :)

Nice life that :p

i think thats BS, coz in most of his pictures he's at the beach, at beach parties, etc.

he goes to the gym 5 times a week and works out for about an hour, which is slightly above average but not extreme.

look at these

this is his "best friend" or bro?

http://www.simplyshredded.com/exclusive-costa-armen-narcissus.html

and some more pics here when he won some online comp where i think all of his fans just voted for him, still $200 for nothing.

he goes out a lot, but may only drink 3/4 times a year.

I was replying to the other guy saying he's at the gym 24/7...Which I find would suck.

I like a social life, I like to work out when I can.

Everyones different :)
