The 2011 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

For pollinating, just rub your finger on the petals and you will see loads of pollen fall down and land on your finger. Then just dab the stigma? with the pollen, can use the same pollen for all the flowers.

Although to be honest you don't really need to do anything. I didn't last year with My Cayennes and got well over a hundred chillies. They were inside as well, so no wind. The Stigma is positioned very close to the pollen on chilli/pepper plants and so the pollen naturally falls and lands on it. A little tap to dislodge some pollen will help.

Cheers for arranging a drop mark didn't realise you lived so close. im a complete noob at the whole thing. so some serious help will be needed in care / pruning or whatever needs to be done..

Anyone had much luck with their Numex Twilights?

I've been trying to sow seeds for about 3 weeks now. In this time, I've had a 100% record with 5 Jalapenos, and 5 Scotch Bonnets but still absolutely nothing from the Numex Twilights.

I may be completely wrong... But this seems like the first chilli coming through after 3 weeks of flowering!!!

These are my chilli plants in their entirety, along with my Dragon Tree just out of shot on the left.

For some reason it's the chilli plants that are in the pot together, the smaller two, that have been flowering for a while, the other two have only just started this week!

The big three are Jalapeños, and the small ones are Habaneros, which are three in the pot as they are still small and I don't have much space...

Repotted them all about a month ago and gave a few away, put some outside too and they got eaten :P
But it was just to see what happened to them, wasn't too bothered really!

Hoping for chilli's to eat by June!!!

Apologies for the distortion of the pots on the second picture, my ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco doesn't have the best camera in the world :P

that is indeed a chilli growing. your pots are rather small, dont you have any 1L or bigger? 1l are no wider, just twice the height. your leaves are yellowing so they could do with being fed baby bio as a Nitrogen boost.

I will have a trip to B&Q later to try and get some bigger pots :)

I have some tom food, will that do?

They aren't that yellow at all in person, it's just that that is a south facing window so the sun is shining through them when taking a pic.

yeh you can use tomato food, its strong in P&K and more suited to when the plant is fruiting heavily, so be careful of overfeeding. baby bio is mostly for greener healthier leaves.

Both my Numex have grown and producing great fruit!

I think its time for me to move mine up to their final pots soon as lots of roots are showing out of the bottoms now!

What size pots are people using for last ones? 5 litre or 4 litre? Or doesn't it make much difference..

I have just had 5 jalapenos pop up out of nowhere.... I have a feeling I'm too late this year :(

Anyways, z-5500 I see there haha. I still have mine after like 10 years. Best purchase ever.

If you're sure it has had plenty of water then move it out out of the sun. My cayennes were doing that a week or so ago when they had been in the sun for a while.
