The 2011 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

The only plant that this green algae appears on the soil is my Naga. never had it on any of the others.

Finally getting some sun up north so my chillies are starting to do a lot better. Got a few red cayennes as well.

My Nagas seem to be getting on well, not getting as much sun as they used to in my old place as I've yet to find the sun trap in my new house.

Bought some 5 Litre pots earlier today so will give them plenty of space to grow when I re-pot them in a few days!

My habanero... it started off being the shortest.. now its the tallest at 30". I should repot it as its in a 12.7cm pot.

A flower just started appearing today.

I know this is very lazy of me, but can someone give me an estimate of how much it would cost for a small indoor growing kit?

I have a vacant cupboard in the house that could be ideal, and seeing as I've enjoyed growing them so far, I want to continue this into the winter months...

;)

Does anyone know why my top leaves are drooping and drying up?

This is happening on 3 out of my 4 plants. I have some new pots coming any day now but is this a classic sign of something I am doing wrong?

^ My Scotch Bonnets and Nagas are doing that, but all of the other ones (7 of various types that were planted this year along with the aforementioned) are fine. They're all treated identically. Apart from the visual aspects of it, the plants appear fine and are flowering / fruiting nicely. New leaves that are coming from the nodes appear fine at the moment, so maybe it's just a transient thing?

Hehe, yes I am watering them. I have put them outside today to get some fresh air so hopefully they might pick up. It hasn't been too hot today so see if they get any better.

When you "manually" pollinate the flowers is it a case of just brushing the stamen about so the pollen flies around and goes into the stigma?

GOt about 8 plants at the moment of varying species all with 40+ buds on. want to make the most of them once they flower :D

Here are my two, Apache, then a Cheyenne. Bushy little fellows huh!

I've just moved them into 7" pots for their final flurry, as the pots they were pictured in weren't big enough (roots coming out of the bottom). They were also drinking a hell of a lot of water, and it was leaving this weird, white stain on top of the soil once dry, so I've given them as much new soil as I could.

A flower blossomed this morning so I'm excited for what lies ahead :)

Panic! Just walked into the room with the chillies in and both scotch bonnets were completely withered. So they're now in a bath of water, I'm sure they will be fine... hopefully!

This has happened to me a few times and they always bounce back after a good soak.

They bounced back just fine. The Bonnets on them look pure evil.

Got a couple of ripe Cayennes which need picking. I'll make some chilli chicken something tomorrow I think.

All my chilli plants are covered in baby chillis now.. Only problem is, I now realise that I've labeled them all wrong somewhere along the line! One that I thought was the Cherry Bomb turns out to be the Ring of Fire, my Jalapeno turns out to be a Tabasco. Just can't tell the difference betwen the Cherry Bomb and the Jalapeno yet!

Had a nice surprise, went to London for the weekend and came back to this.

Also got some dried habanero and whole coconut from borough Market for a curry.
