The 2011 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

Awesome views you have there Yurka, very jealous!

I know what you mean about the high temps in greenhouses. I walked into mine one morning and was hit by 54oc very humid air. Glad there were no plants in there at the time, it was back in April when we got a few days of sun. I've made sure to open the window and door fully whenever there is a hint of sun in the morning.

I had a casualty today.. the hot weather caused me to open a window. The wind knocked one of my plants from a great height and I lost a few chillis and foliage.

So watch out for those window sill plants! I even had mine blocked by string, did no good.

Stunning spot where we're at, got some major burn on the go this weekend, think we were up to 32 degrees.

Reckon I'll have to pot on any of those chillies? The tall ones are cayenne, however the rest are bhuts, morich, jonahs & scorpians.

Got chillies on all my plants, but not the naga morich. Anyone scusfully pollinated nagas? The stigma and what ever it called are really hard and you don't get a shower of pollen, like on the other plants.

I'd say all of those could do with potting into bigger pots. Probably the only thing holding them back as the weather looks great where you are.

A quick heads up for the chilli fiends among us

Tesco extra near me has now got narga's in stock!!!!! thought it rude not to buy a few packets for the following weeks food
