The 2011 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

More updates please!

Will post some of mine soon, just having some buds come through in the last few days. Plants are only 25cm~ tall so might take them off and let them grow abit more first.

Got seeds from Acidhell, and they are growing nicely. I sowed them too late in the year really but it's nice to see them growing nonetheless.

If they look a bit down its cos they needed a watering today and just watered em bout half a hour ago or so.

Apache and micro tom on kitchen windowsill, the apache had greenfly infestation on tho seems to be gone but a lot of leaves droped off and lots of damage due to heavy spraying with fairy and water mix to combat greenfly. Mainly bottom affected mid and top seem decent enough still.

Apaches in bedroom, doing well as usual.

Early Jalapeno plants.

More Early Jalapenos.

Overwintered from last year jumbo bell pepper. Doing rather well.

Right side of main living room window, mix of micro tom, bell peppers, jalapeno and apache.

I have grown some (Bishops Finger, Scotch Orange and Dorset Naga), but have noticed that the Bishops has grown up where as the other two are still small. Plenty of leaves on them and have also notice a whole load of green beasties on tehm now.

Whats the best way to deal with the beasties?

Get watered every day and also fed once a week with miracle grow brown gloopy stuff

Bishops Finger, their is a ale by that name iirc. Always sounded dodgy when i see it in asda. :p

Well good dollop of fairy liquid in litre of water ish and spray well every day got rid of my greenfy problem i duno if thats what you have but should get rid of most pests. But be sure it will cause leaves to fall and those that stay on have damage. But least it killed the boogers. Saying that i might have over done mine as i blastered about 5-8 times the first day soon as i saw em dry lol so dont go mad like i did with the spraying.

I dont water everday just when leaves look droopy a tiny bit or feel the leaves see if they feel like skin which is when i water em. Usually feed em some tomatorite once a week.

My little Ladybug larvae hard at work . Found a few Ladybugs in Manchester and brought them home in a tub with some leaves. They disappeared a few days later but then a week later there were about 5 or 6 of these darting about. Going to put them in my greenhouse to keep any greenfly at bay.

Sweet die ***** die.. :D

Had a good look at one of my hot chillies today, 42 chilies on it and plenty of new flowers, but still no signs of rippening.
Has anyone else's nagas fruited? Had flowers on it for ages now and been using paintbrush method same as my hit cherries and cirrus, but it isn't fruiting, but neither are the flowers dropping off. Do they just take a lot longer or do I need to try something else.

I think my chillies have been a failure this year so far, but hopefully they pick up by the end of the season.

Also, I'm in Norfolk on holiday at the moment and managed to pick up a bottle of ChillisGalore Inferno hot sauce, it is amazing but not as hot as I was expecting but still a nice heat non the less with a Bhut Jolokia content of 4.8%

I give you scotch bonnets (couldn't get the phone to focus on the actual chillies!)

Couple of questions though

1. How long do they take to go red
2. Quite a number of the flower stems turn yellow and drop off, is this normal?

I just removed roughly 30 away-to-bud flowers from my Apache. This is my last removal before allowing hopefully even more to bud and develop.

Cannot wait!

My Cayennes took around 1 month 10 days (going on photo dates) from when they started developing to when they started going red. Id expect Scotch bonnets to take around the same time but that's just a guess!
