Anybody hear of the AR7 routine that was designed for the new Conan film? Looks quite interesting as a concept of volume and intensity training.

Just trying to see if the science matches the hype... some of his diet comments don't ring true to me, but I like the ideas of the training style. Needs a bit of tweaking and customising I think though.

I'm glad that guy explained what a repetition was :/

I imagine the active rest is the key to this routine. Looks pretty brutal.

Saytan: Good idea with the strong lifts routine. I will suggest he start that after the christmas break.

You know what, I might have read that if it wasn't for the GOD AWFUL font they've used!

Yeah it's not nice :(

Active rest is the thing that's interesting..

Thinking deadlifts with active rests... ouch. :D

You know what, I might have read that if it wasn't for the GOD AWFUL font they've used!

Indeed:

My name is Eric Laciste and I am the creator of AR7,
the Concept that built Khal Drogo, that built the new Conan Barbarian,
that transformed Jason Momoa.

So what exactly is AR7?
A - R : Accelerated Results,
7: the representation of Perfection.

AR7 utilizes
The perfect combination of Resistance, Repetition and Rest
sepcific to each individual, defined by each exercise.

Let me say that again,
AR7 utilizes the perfect combination of
Resistance- the amount of weight your're using,
Repetition- the number of times you move that weight and
Rest- the amount of time you take in between each set
specific to you, to whatever exercise you're doing.

Under the standard AR7 Concept
you perform 3 exercises, 54 sets, 330 reps in 30 mins.

And NO, AR7 is not based on Hi-Reps.
The 330 reps under the standard AR7 Concept is the result of
performance, your performance.

And that is the essence of AR7.

AR7 is a tool that enables you, allows you, gives you the ability
to perform at the highest level
at every single moment you dedicate to exercise and training.
Every single rep, every single breath
at the hightest level with purpose.

AR7 gives you a CHANCE.
A chance to perform
ALL of YOU;
everyday people, young and old, fit or rehabbing, athletes, actors and stuntmen.
Whethere it's your first day in the gym or the 10th year-
AR7 works for everyone!

And yes, I do have my own personal interpretation on how
ALL exercise SHOULD be performed
that does add another dimension to training,
that does produce results of the highest level

but in the end it's YOU, it's the CONCEPT that TRANSFORMS

Yeah, sometimes all I want to do is let go of the weight the instant I have finished my reps.

I have seen other body weight routines with this huge army guy. He would do press ups and then go to an active rest position with his arms stretched out and bum high. That style of work out certainly seemed to work for him.

Would you perform deadlifts and squats with strict form? I can imagine I would struggle with so many deep squats as my core will get tired a lot faster than my legs.

I'm the other way round. My legs tire before my core :o

Well on average it works out as over 30 Tonnes per session!

Quite tempted to give it a go - might as well give it a go I've tried so many programs and I love volume. I'll report back in a few months and let you know how it goes!

Happy to share the programme with you all if you're interested.

Oh a lot of the language is ******* to say the least. However the concepts aren't that revolutionary either, in terms of volume and short rests - but it's just a slightly new take on it. Hence why I'm interested in seeing how it goes. :)

Well that Conan program might be good at putting on muscle, but it certainly doesn't help you act
