when you quote someone you take away the name of the person that quoted it and the anchor to that post. do you do this on purpose?

Look at others quotes then look at yours

Nobody is self praising here, I mentioned something about society and how we act when it comes to obesity even though heart attacks and all that kinda stuff are meant to be number one killer in britain, we dont say anything to our loved ones.

But all of that seems to have gone over your head and instead off adding to the conversation you've just tried to pick apart my words...I dont see anything you've said as contributing at all and just seems quite a waste of my time.

I'm actually not going to explain my first paragraph as it will probably lead to further problems.

But I will add to what Benny said; society is actually fairly intollerant of fat people. The problem generally isn't a lack of awareness, it's not being able to move youself in a constructive direction. Anyway, if you're trying to help people and it works then good for you, just be careful about how you approach the issue.

EDIT:

Missed a few sessions this week due to picking up a few niggles. Towards the end of my 5s in HST now and it's gotten a little messy with different gym equipment, but it hasn't interfered with the big three lifts. Deadlifts at 190kg were fast an easy, although still annoying with the flat sided plates (rocked fowards on a few reps due to some momentum from the bar settling :/). Took bench and shoulder press fairly easy as my shoulder wasn't 100%, also the plate loaded row was nagging my pulled intercostal but that was fine.

If I'm fit on monday I'm going to find a spotter and hit squats HARD. If a pull out a cheeky 200x5 I might poo my pants from a combination of intra-abdominal pressure, surprise and joy. I'm definitely going to need to do some higher rep work to work out the niggles before I start my powerlifting program though or I might fall apart.

What would be the error with my form that would create my right vastus medalis to be so much more developed than on my left leg? this is really bugging me now as it just looks so uneven, my right one is nice and visable but my left not at all

Also how would i lengthen/develop my abductors without a specific resistance machine?

You pulled it again or old one flaring up again?

I have a question about my knee? It's not an issue because when I get it in the gym I can prevent it from being detrimental by warming up more. But today, specifically after being in the cinema for a while, my right knee is really quite painful and I can't do BW squats on it without it twinging. In the gym what I do is something like 2 mins on an erg to warm it up and then it is fine for days, it is only occasionally that I get it (maybe 2-3 times a month). Does anyone have any ideas?

I think the thread should be renamed to ***The 2011 Handbags Thread***

+1 :D

Could be a few things, but off the top of my head the easiest one to check you be to make sure that your legs are symmetrical. When squatting, for example, if your left knee doesn't push out as far as your right then there will be less load on the vastus medialis (I think I've got that the right way around).

I don't know of any abductor isolation exercises that don't involve machines or bands, why do you want to strengthen them?

Actually it's from trying on Martins belt, it seems it broke me slightly :o:D It's nothing bad, I was more saving myself for the game today.

It's possible that you have similar problems to me with your knees (Chondromalacia Patella and Osgood–Schlatter), as it's fairly likely it's genetic. Don't worry about it basically, just remember to warm up properly

Been fun in here for a fair few posts hasn't it. Well, as of Friday I'm a member of two gyms, one in my hometown for the weekends and one of these 24hr Puregyms (new one in Birmingham) which I thought was worth joining at only 12.99 a month just for those days when I can't be bothered with an hour and a half commute and then down to the gym. Seemed pretty good, only thing that worried me is I noticed a bit of sparsity of plates to racks in the free weight section. I mentioned it to one of the guys there and he said that they had 500kg of plates (which is surely ridiculously low for a city gym) but now I mentioned it he could see it might be a problem when busy so he'd check if they were due any more in.

It's the way you say things, that seems to be what people are basing their opinions on.
You mention people in your gym talking to you saying you could do with dropping a bit of bodyfat so that you can reach your goals, this is a mile away from being the same as you saying to someone who doesnt train 'you are fat and overweight'.

That seems to be what happens....Seems to be the way he formats things, they sound more abrupt etc

Well today i'm going on a 7 day residential IT course, so that will mean no bike, no gym, no nothing :(. In preparation, i have had a week crammed with gym sessions, almost to the point of overdoing it, so now my body will relish the rest :)

That is low for a city gym!

You head of puregym? up here it's based right in the center of city, last time I checked it was £14.99 a month. And it's a 24 hour gym so can go anytime you want, when I worked doors I had a membership there as it was dirt cheap anyway and just used to train after I finished at 4am or whatever, but It's a really good gym huge inside.

Alough I train at a bb'ing gym now, pay slightly more at £20 but that gives me my own set of keys for the place etc so 9 times out of 10 I have the place to myself.

Mate I had 3 months of the gym and was in hospital for 2 weeks of that no eating and I've came back bigger tbh. Alough that's to the extreme, 1 week is absolutely nothing and imo is actually good for the body to take a break.

Apart from the hopefully temporary lack of weight plates it's cracking value to be honest. It's huge, great range of machines if that's your thing and dirt cheap. It's nice to be somewhere that has a full set (up to 24kg at least) of kettlebells as well if I ever fancy a quick conditioning workout.

I used to train at a 24 hour gym before they became common over here, in fact I think it was the only one in the country :p

My 'it's low' comment was regarding the amount of plates available :p

Haven't posted here in a while and all I see is mud being slung ;p

Loving standing overhead press ATM, I WILL OHP my bodyweight in the next month, currently standing at 186lb, and can do 135lbx4 on highest set of pyramid

does OHP strengthen your core?
