Well I said I would put a picture up.

Have just potted on today. Ancho's are doing well as are the jalapeno's. Got two hungarian hot wax and just one hot marbles plant.

re-potted mine today. Will need to see how they go. I always end up losing a couple this way.

Was kinda hard taking them out the tray. I couldn't work out tactic that was 100% succesful. I think part of it was due to the soil being really soft so falling away from the shape of the tray.

I've used a plastic fork to work mine lose. It worked really well as it allowed me to be delicate when transplanting.

A few pics of my crop so far. Some more sowing being done next weekend.

This Trinidad scorpion has germinated with 3 leaves instead of 2. Odd. Just noticed the dead bonnet next to it as well :(

Bought another lamp, 30w a week or so ago, and have been potting on and thinning out a bit, though couldn't resist getting a few more jalapenos going!

They're loving the extra light.

Not posted any pictures yet, so here goes!

Potted up two Cayenne and two Jalapeno plants this morning, however now I'm not 100% sure which is which :p I think the ones on the Left are the Jalapenos.

Edit:
Learning from the lessons of last year, I planted them low in the pot and build the compost up around the steam. There's around 3cm ish of steam below the soil line so I should get some nice root growth!

It's perlite. When mixed into the compost is aids drainage and lightens up the soil mainly. Not necessary, I didn't use any last year. But from using it this year, It seems my seedlings got off to a faster/stronger start :)

Thanks I was thinking a butter knife, slide it into the soil and then up and out, then the plant can rest against the blade. If that makes sense.
The one I thought I definately lost looks to be fine. I do hate how even after one day of turning they then lean over towards the window. Hollyhocks are worse for it!

I'm hoping they're putting out roots, they've slowed down =[

The ones I started off a while back have now started to burst into life now I have got them in the window sill. Next year I might consider building a light box like some of you guys have.

Planted a load of the really hot ones that Enzo sent me (Bhut Jolokia/Choc Bhut Jolokia/Dorset Naga to name but 3). I shall now be praying to the chilli fairies that these grow well and I get a good crop off them!!

Anyone have any good sites for chilli seeds? I ordered some from SowSeeds last year and to be honest I don't think the seeds were very good. Less than half actually germinated in my heated props. This year I've planted 24 and so far (over 2 weeks in the heated prop which is on constantly) I have 3 plants that have appeared. One a week ago (red scotch bonnet) and 2 this last weekend (orange habs). Either I'm doing something very wrong or the seeds just aren't ok. I've used proper seed compost and I only water when the soil is dry in the middle. Anything else I need to be doing?

My prop is on a window sill that gets plenty of sun in the afternoon.

Think yourself lucky, i planted 40 and only 6 germinated :p (and i might add these 6 are 3 each of varieties i don't really want)

Not 100% sure if i should put some more in to replace them or suffer....

I think most of my problem this year is planting them too early, planted just after new year and then we had a few weeks of snow and **** which really hasn't helped

Weird, I got 60 seeds from sowseeds this year (20 jals, 20 tabasco, 20 scotch bonnets) and most of them (around 50) germinated.

Some of them I stuck in a very wet propagator, the rest I used the paper towel method. Then I left them in the airing cupboard at ~22C until they came through.

Checked them this morning, the tallest one has wilted over quite a bit. No idea what's going wrong. I only water when the soil is dry in the heated prop, which is happening almost every 24 hours or so. Am I overwatering or underwatering them?

Is the soil just dry on top or is is dry say 1cm down as well?

I've been watering mine around twice a week in the heated prop. Once a day does seem quite excessive, I wouldn't have thought the soil would dry out in a day.

Maybe you have been overwatering? But if the soil is in fact dry... then I don't know :|

Well that's the thing. There are only three out of twenty four that have germinated. The rest still haven't so lid is still on. If I remove the lid what are the chances of the rest germinating?
