Last weeks deadlifts:
225kg:
8 reps mixed grip
8 reps mixed grip
8 reps straps DOH

This week at 225kg again:
8 reps mixed grip
7 reps mixed grip (tried twice for the 8th, didn't budge an inch)
8 reps @ 110kg

What's happening this week :( I'm weak as phuark :(

Yeah, I'd be wondering why I had to half the weight to get 8 reps done as well. ;) hehe

Bite my shiny, metal ****.

:p

How would one approach a working set of 120kg deadlifts? I tend to do a few reps at 60kg, then 80kg for a couple, then work up in tens or so for singles and do the working set.

Would you do it any differently? Or does it depend on the day?

I normally do one set of warm ups with 70kgs as it's easy to stick 2 25kg on the bar and then just crack on with my working sets.

Hm okay. I can't whack on a 25 plate as we have none, so it'll be a 20 + a 5 then :p

I may have to do some working up, say 100kg or something, as 120kg is more than my 1rm now.

60x5
80x5
100x3
120x...

Cheers dude

Here's the situation, I'm wanting to do barbell squats (for the first time) but my gym has no power rack. I have no training partner and don't trust anyone at my council run gym to spot me as it's full of idiots. Is just doing front squats ok? I think i'd be able to drop the weight much easier if I had to so I wouldn't need a spotter/power rack.

Will try those, thanks!

I'm a bit annoyed tbh as when I signed up (for a 12 month contract) the gym had 2 power racks, and now they only have a smith machine :( I've tried asking and they have no intention on getting any more either, "no one" uses them apparently!

Devils, depends what rep range your working set will be and how comfortable you are lifting 120. I would do as lie wrote personally, but you might want to throw in a 110 single

Back session this evening:

Deadlifts:
-WU: 8x60kg, 3x80kg, 2x100kg, 1x110kg
-WS: 3x4x120kg

BOR's @ 50kg: 16, 16, 14
(supersetted with single arm rows)
SARs: 3x10x25JG

OHP: 3x10x30kg

Bent over rear fly: 3x12x7.5kg

Front raises: 3x10x7.5kg

Deadlifts were funny, had to really push out the last reps on sets 2 and 3, sadly only got the first on video: http://youtu.be/r8bM1CVq6W0

Went alrite as said above. 120kg is on the threshold of max for 4reps I think, so may concentrate on it for a while and up the reps slowly. God knows
