*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

...How else do you think half the fail videos from other gyms get online? :p

I still think he was recording the mirror personally

Hehehehe...

Records video to admire pump. Gets busted viewing it. Claims it was somebody else and has to post it online to "prove" it. :D

Nice one, Gecco. ;)

The vid is only 5 seconds long, I was trying to setup my phone and by the time i pointed it to him it shows him swinging the barbell and for some bizarre reason he turns his head and looks right at me XD. - I panicked and made out I was looking at my phone...

As if he knew he would be the next big thing on youtube.

He's not even in the squat rack though.

so i've been doing the SS5x5 routine for a little over a month now..

went from ;-

deads - started at 90kg with 2.5kg added each day, built it up to 127.5 but wasn't happy with my form at that weight so dropped it down to 110 and building it back up now - currently at 115kg

pb went from 120 to 150kg

squats - this was the scary one at the start due to me having sprained my ankles 10s of times so my stability was really bad IMO but it was simply my form that was incorrect/foot position.

started with 35 now im repping at 97.5 with a pb of 110(haven't attempted a new pb for a couple of weeks) old pb was 60kg.

bent over rows - started at 35kg now sit at 67.5 - never went for pb don't see a point.

shoulder press - started at 20kg now sit at 42.5, crazy hard to increase weight on this but im on it!

bench press, started with 35kg now sit at 52.5 - dropped it from 60 due to my pb never going above 60 and now working my way up again.

pb before 40 now 65kg

also started on chin-ups, at the start of the gym i could do 2! :/ now i have no problems with 10x5 and i could go for more.

overall i really do enjoy this routine! we'll see how long i can keep at it! :)

TL;DR

EX - START - CURRENT - PB BEFORE - NOW

Deads - 90kg - 115kg - 120kg - 150kg
Squats - 35kg - 97.5kg - 60kg - 110kg
Bent over - 35kg - 67.5 - xx - xx
bench - 35kg - 52.5kg - 40kg - 65kg
shoulder press - 20kg - 42.5 - xx - xx

bench presses and shoulder presses are the killer ones for me! dropped the weight a little and trying to keep a solid form yet perform the reps a bit faster which hopefully will help me improve.

baaadum tsshh.. been going to gym since mid Jan '13

Hey guys, quick nutrition question (wasn't there a nutrition sticky somewhere?):

I want to add 1000 calories to my daily diet, as my stronglifts progress has been less than stellar. I'm thinking of making a daily breakfast milkshake, does anyone have any good recipes?

Was going to start with 2 scoops of protein powder and a banana, but I don't know where to go from there and was hoping you guys could help XD
Plus you'll pick ingredients that will actually be good for me..

Let me know if I'm being silly, but I feel I need the calories, I'm 6'1" and I've never weighed over 12 stone.

Pretty much my shake for breakfast execpt I use peanut butter and some coconut oil instead of yoghurt and whole nuts.

NOM

God I miss my morning shake :(

That /fit one looks tasty, but can highly recommend banana and peanut butter with vanilla protein powder and milk. If your feeling cheeky, throw in some coco powder or if your feeling all Boris Johnson, a warm Snickers.
