*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Just because you've got an injury doesn't mean you can't train around it rather than taking large chunks of time completely off from the gym.

Thanks for the comments. To be more clear, I don’t have any swelling or anything like that.

It that’s the tendons and muscle fibres at the top part of forearm (bit that connects to elbow) is a little painful and strength sapping.

Example, pulling and pushing doors was hurting me yesterday as well as picking up a kettle.... if I'm having issue doing that, then lifting weights is gona be a problem.

I'm hoping a little under a week of time off as well as going back in and working out with lighter weights for a while will stop this flaring up again.

Its a real disappointment, because I was really motivated.

I'll could try iceing it as well as ibuprofen, but like I said, there isnt any swelling... well at least I dont think there is.

No. No.

No.

No.

brb doctors

brb interfering with the body's natural healing process (ice and NSAIDs). Inflammation is good, tissue edema is bad and should be treated with movement, compression and elevation if you can be bothered.

brb not addressing the root cause

inb4 icecold is trolling.

You have tight shoulders, fix them.

Yes.

Troll. ;)

To be fair, I read Indie's response and had to stop my forehead hitting the keyboard.

If Indie and opeth actually go and see a decent physio, they will realise that most of their own treatment measures are either pointless or an expensive waste of everybody's time.

Indie: check the mobility thread. If you have patellar tendonitis, you probably have biiiiiiiiig mobility problems. Sort them out and your body will thank you.

This forearm issue really is quite annoying. Am I right in resting it, or should I suck it up and train through it?

What if by the time Monday rolls around, it still hurting?

The patch of red specks surrounded by the white is where my pain is. (When I put weight on my arms in a dip position, this is when I can feel the pain)

I had that too.

Physio sorted me out, but it's nothing you couldn't do yourself (deep tissue massage etc.)

Half workout done today! Kicked out of the gym by police! Awesome... Two guys decided it was the best place to have a fight.. And who the hell fights with dumbbells! I think I'll go back tomorrow.

Im hoping rest sorts this out, but I have a feeling it will still be hurting come Monday, especially after working out again.

What to do? Suck it up and work through it or take more time off?

Opeth, even I'm getting frustrated now....

You've asked for help and we have given you advise, please follow it.
