*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Yeah nuts are my between meal snack, I eat about 100g-150g per day of mixed nuts.

Also greek yoghurt, mix some protein powder and berries in there and its a great snack.

How many of you guys Intermittent Fast? since doing it for about 6 weeks now im seeing all kinds of gains, down to 67.5kg which is the lightest ive ever been and haven't lost any strength. My original target was 68kg but ive still got fat so reckon ill hit 66kg bang on before i start a bulk

When you guys bulk, how much calories surplus do you take on a day? would 200-300 be enough?

Just saw a guy at the gym curling a 20kg barbell with one hand and then throwing it around over his head to switch arms.

68kgs? How tall are you? 5ft?

Wolls and stoodle think i'm going down to far, thoughts? I will add this was the most comfortable i've felt on any weighted dips so far  usually some sort of elbow/shoulder uncomfortability but this was perfect.

Is there any issue with greater ROM? o.O I better keep an eye on this... I was just thinking earlier I should have greater 'depth' on my dips....

Any of you guys have your own squat rack or bench at home?
Asked one of the trainers to show me how to squat no homo and he spent a good 20 minutes helping me out. No doubt my form is still w*** but I know the basics now.
Would have asked ages ago but I never ever get a chance to use the squat rack which is also used as the bench. I think I've used the bench twice in two months.Seen it was empty for a change and asked him for a hand.

Would love to bench and squat at home or even in the garage but I guess it would be pretty expensive to buy squat rack and bench?

Take a look at that.

I think I need to recommend that getting added to the sticky actually...

The cost problem isn't neccessarily the rack, but adding in weights etc...

LiE recently specced a home gym set up for him. Think it was about £1000:

You could probably get a decent bench and rack for £350. Keep an eye for second hand ones on ebay as well.

thinj i specced myself a rack and bench with weights for around £400ages ago, look on fitness superstore as well :-)

I got 2 years interest free finance on my home setup and pay £35 a month currently. You can get all the equipment for less than that though.

Wow looks strong, imagine how much laundry she could carry in one go!

Quite a lot I imagine XD

Spotted her on the bench last week for a 1rm, 60kg! Also got a 100kg squat for a few reps and 120kg Bw 2xbw! She got told off thou haha, Trainer doesn't want her getting any injuries as shes prepping for 4 shows in april/may.

First session in the gym after hurting my back 2 weeks ago doing squats. Feels good, except DB rows... had to keep those light.

Question: I don't want to stress my lower back for 6 weeks, what leg exercises would you recommend for me? I was thinking leg press, DB lunges and calf raise to keep some sort of residual strength. After 4 weeks I'll look into doing some light squats again, but I fear DLs are off for a full 6.
