*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

I had written a load of drivel but I'll cut to the chase:

For those of you who have cut and successfully got your body fat to a level where your abs are clearly visible... How do you do it? What specifically worked for you in terms of diet/exercise? I am doing everything right but my body is clinging on to that last layer, it won't shift. No alcohol, plenty of HIIT, limited simple carbs, limited calorie intake... but still not getting the results!

Should be back hitting the weights hard again mid Feb when my broken metacarpal is fully healed. I've been doing loads of cardio so perhaps sticking to a low-carb diet and hitting the weights hard will work better for me?

In one word - consistency

Keep plugging away and it will come. Don't worry so much about cardio if the diet is on point then not much point. My personal opinion

I don't do any cardio and sit around 8% ill be looking to drop to 4 % for May with very little to no cardio. I get my cardio from cycling my weight training routine. Rep increases, drop sets etc.

Just home in on diet, consuming the carbs at the correct times.

Thats what I'v done and I'm back here. I started with saying I thought things where going well.

You guys derailed it by saying that 200g isnt much progress.

I'm not going to get in to this any more. This is fruitless.

I'll post in my own thread and only people that have something worthwhile to post can say it there.

Asks for advice.

Is given advice x 10.

Doesn't act on advice.

Fuark.

How long realistically should I expect it to take? I'd say I'm very nearly there but as I said my body fat is at a level where it is still covering my abs. Are we talking months and months?

I've cut down on simple carbs. I only eat stuff like rice/pasta around training and try to avoid them all together in the evenings.

I don't know what all the bickering was about earlier.

Can we just agree to stop it.

This is a new OP. Im doing the diet thing properly for the first time, so what came before is defunct. Advise me in the present not in the past.

Anyway I think I'm heading in the right direction with this, which is the first time I can say that. I am definetly dropping body weight and today I managed a personal best on the leg press. I managed 10x3 at 100kg which I have always struggled at. So thats progress.

The leg press?

Do you squat?

It really seems to me that you need to sit back and actually read this forum. Take in what is being said. Consider that most of the more experienced swear by core exercises like Squat, DL and Bench and that Leg Press is more or less just joked about. Consider the sound advice being banded about and actually act on that advice. It takes a better man to sit, listen to advice and learn from it than to assume he knows it all in the first place.

To me you don't appear to do that. To me you appear to post something here then just look for replies to your post. Are you just attention seeking then? Are you trolling? What are you really looking to achieve? Sorry if I sound harsh, your countless posts come across as hopeless and therefore I conclude you don't really care that much and you don't have the motivation to get where you think you want to be. If you did then you should have "got it" by now.

Haven't really read much of your posts opethdisciple but I can only really echo the sentiments above. Gaining knowledge from others is brilliant, and doing Squat, DL and bench is advisable. However if you don't want to do them you don't have to do them. But understand the benefits of them before you decide not to.
