Managed to do front squats without my knee clicking tonight so I'm happy as anything. It was absolutely tiny weight but it's better than not being able to squat at all! The problem I have atm is that I don't know if front squats are a better movement for me currently than high bar or low bar, or just because I did millions of reps at various weights beforehand, by the time I came to front squat everything was working nicely.

Front squats will always ultimately be limited by the ability to maintain the front rack position (hence why weightlifters tend to keep them at 1-3 reps but have a little more variation with the back squat), and this will give out before the legs for most people. Squat like a weightlifter, then your front squat and back squat will look pretty much the same. ;)

It's better than nothing though and if you have a large disparity between your best front squat and high bar back squat you can try and get to that hallowed FS 1RM = 80-85% of BS 1RM.

I'm fully aware about the front squats won't be as strong as back squats, the tiny weights are just because I'm just coming back from an injury. As I was squatting earlier I did notice my high bar look quite similar to my front squat so that's a good thing. My low bar however still resembles a direct low bar powerlifting position. I'm pleased that I my form and technique is still there, just got to wait for the knee to become 100%.

Probably a dumb question When tracking macros for say a pint/bottle of lager does the suggested calories include the 7cals per gram of alcohol?

Oh lighten up. :/

And yes it does include the alcohol.

Enjoy your empty calories.

How does this work, empty calories I mean?

As i understand, a calorific measurement comes from the energy (KJ) that is provided, if the calorie is empty, where does the energy go. OR by empty does it mean the body can't burn the calories for energy and they just make you fat :D

Not sure if serious?

Empty calories is just a way of saying getting in calories but without any real nutritional value i.e no vitamins, minerals or anything useful other than energy.

Dead serious, "empty calorie" is probably a misleading term, it says to me it has no calorific/energy value.

So it still supplies energy but nothing else then.

If you think about it it actually makes perfect sense, it's still a calorie and therefore provides energy but apart from that it's worthless and therefore empty.
Empty gram on the other hand would be misleading as if nothing else it still provides energy.

Either way it's not a technical term so lets not get hung up on it :D

How do you guys go back to the gym? I get so bored.. I've signed up to multiple gyms this year and left after a month. I went to one recently with a swimming pool etc and i used that loads but never actually went in the gym!

I need to get fit.. well fitter and build up a bit of muscle.
