Is anyone else really struggling with this clammy weather? Other than bench, deadlift and squat are really suffering

Bombed on my next big target of 250 on the squat :( blame the weather

Pause them, then. ;)

My routine used to go something like:

FRONT SQUAT: 12-10-10-8-8
DBSS: 10-10-10

This was followed by temporary inability to function... At all.

High rep fronties? No thanks jeff.

I could try that actually, didn't think of doing paused reps. I'm doing the Eric Helms intermediate bodybuilding routine from his pyramid book which gives my legs lots to think about. :o

Yes, my gym is in an industrial unit and the only air condition is opening the shutter. When it's hot all day upstairs is so hot and clammy that I sweat loads just doing stretches.

Don't see how it was pretty clear? He can do 180kg relatively comfortably, for the extra 6kg he just needed a perfect attempt.

Yea its clear the capability is there. No doubt.

But I wouldn't attempt a top end lift 15x. Then again i suppose that's what makes him a champion and not some bozo walking into the gym.

It's also a lot to do with your choice of lift, missing a squat takes it toll a lot more on your body compared to a snatch. The lack of an eccentric component to the lift is what allows a weightlifter to try again and again.

That said it takes a lot of time and patience to attempt a max on repeat like he did.

Decided I'm too out of shape and unfit. So I'm looking around my area for decent gyms. All the little independent ones don't look great. There is an anytime fitness opening up in September near me but I'd rather start sooner than later. There is a Bannatynes at the end of the road I work down, but at £39.99 per month its a fair chunk for me. Just want to know are they worth it, got no issue spending it but want to make sure they aren't just overcharged because of the name.

It's the one in Colchester if anyone happens to go there or is familiar with it?

Anyone successfully haggled gym price on a chain like that? I've persuaded a friend to sign up with me too.

Any tips for someone who has never been to a gym? I'm only 20 so still young and I'm not massively out of shape just unfit due to lack of exercise the past few years.

Bearing in mind he probably takes a reasonably break between attempts.

Yea, I think the video does a good job of showing that. A lot of people underestimate the length of time people at the top level commit to the gym.

Seeing all the different people and classes come and go is great :)

I don't bloody understand this stuff D:

Conventional deadlifts are the devil, my hammies are in ruin :D starting to have fun with my off season work again :) feels like progress!

Or conventional deads are the bomb :D

Another attempt at 295 again next Tuesday/Wednesday reiyushin. May post video even if embarrassing.
