*** The 2017 Gym Rats Thread ***

I ruined my shins last time I tried them out, might look into them closely as I'm still just looking at weight loss and not concerned about 1RM Max, etc.
 
Went for a max bench lift today. Silly day to do it, Sunday needs to become an easier day in my program. Massively down on power. Will add a theoretical 2.5kg to my last max and will continue on. First time I have benched with safety bars either side of me. Saves having a spot.

On another note, deadlifting is sure building me some forearms!
 
Can't remember the last time I chest day'd too busy enjoying squatting and making use of my shoulders before I ruin them again :o
 
To minimise my squat every training day sessions, I mix it up where I do overhead squats and front squats. And then the other sessions are all back squats (high bar baby).

That hits the core more, but doesn't stop DOMS! :D
 
I'm sure there's a cardio thread around here you could go and join instead...please hand your man card in on your way out.

I actually enjoy leg day even more now because my gym partner loves to skip it, which means I'm on my own and do what I want.

I seem to get very manageable DOMS from deadlifts but squats always leave my quads feeling like a bus rammed into them. Throwing in goblet squats with a kettlebell every morning now to make my body get used to them as much as possible as I'd like to squat at least twice a week and have the ability to walk freely on the weekends.
 
It's lunges that kill me, I seem to be fine on other things. There's another exercise that I do that makes my arse muscles hurt, can't remember the name. Basically use a bench with shoulders on it across the way, face up, like a bridge then arse to the floor and up. Absolutely kills me.

Hip thrusts?
 
Hip Thrusts I think, basically Glute Bridges but with the shoulders on the bench instead of the floor. If you're a real sucker for pain can put a barbell on your hips.
