Possibly this for the 500 build instead of the current one.
Also the rest look great.
Nice job

E5200 is a brilliant chip, not better than the E7200, and is that cooler ANY good?

Well really the chip is the same from my point of view to the e7200 except the smaller cache which i heard doesnt have any real world difference for example on gaming.
I actually looked at the cooler, and it is supposed to compete againsts the freezer 7.
Most review's come out with something that, give or take the same as the freezer performance/noise wise. But for budget wise you save like 5 which means you can stick another fan in the case which might be better than the freezer 7 and without a front fan.

reading about it, the akasa is a very nice cooler, just on the noisy side.

the extra cache does help in game, and remember these are all rounded specs not just for gamers

Ermmm on the 1000 tower build that OCZ ram is now out of stock.
And also ram from the 8500 area is abit more expensive so something like the Giel Evo from the 6400 range.
Same for the 1250 build.
And possible drop the Be quiet PSU for a Corsair or Zalman and get the noctua HSF with a few remainging pennies.

mmm they were not out of stock when i posted up the machines :(

IMO the be Quiet PSU is the best PSU i have owned, and quiet is an understatement to it. i though it was broken, when i couldnt hear it.

but its a rough guide, so if people want to they can ditch it, for a noctua, which is a very good idea aswell.

flinco, i have put 2 4850s, in crossfire mode there. they should run at over GTX280 speeds and cost a good £70 less.

shaffaa for the £1250 tower how about using the Q9550 rather than the Q9650.. i know its a newer stepping but i dont think its worth it and money spent on another HDD or whatever might be a better idea?

Maybe you should start incorporating operating systems and monitors to the specs or just the former.
Not a criticism a suggestion.

Wouldn't an X2 5200+ and the 256MB 8800GT be a much better combo than an E1200 and a 9600GT?, its 12 pounds off though i think.

I'd guess at anything above 1280x1024 the E1200/9600GT would be quicker. I'd certainly try to spend a little extra on a E5200 processor though (although then it'd be a £325 system and that's not as catchy:)).

Great work by the OP btw.
