To be used as a fileserver/media server

Core 2 Duo CPU
Mobo (onboard video preferred)(4 slots for memory if poss)

Ill use my existing HDD's + OS

Normal server (on a budget) but with plenty of HD space (2TB ideally) and a RAID controller card. (4x SATA & PCI-Express)

very nice spec semi-pro,

heres my attempt, (i assume no OCing)

there are 6 sata port on the mobo, and one IDE, and 6 sata power connectors on the VX450.

it happened to me before, all you have to do is clear your cache. that should fix it.
