The 328i - A bit of a project

Surely there is working on your car and taking 2 weeks and 71 attempts to complete a simple task :p

FWIW we did my own brakes.

Time and places is all I can say then. I've not had the time or the place to work on the car due to work and where I live...and due to my retarded losing the locking nuts. :p

By 'we' do you mean someone else did them and you stood around half watching? ;)

Westy does. Are you wearing Westys clothes?:p

Haha, no, it's an old hoodie given to me by an ex.

Jack looks like it was sinking as well :p

Soft ground + jack + heavy car = :o

By the way, we left the jack in place in case anything happened to the stands.

All future work like this though I'm going to save up and do at weekends or weeks off at my parent's so I can use all the tools and garage space there as working on driveways is ok, but not very good. :p

Popped to Tesco to get fuel and wash the car before the meet tomorrow and shortly after setting off I noticed my lights appeared to be lacking on the nearside and I was greeted with 'Low Beam Failure' on my OBC.

I stopped, popped the bonnet, checked the bulb...

Well that's a little wrong. I replaced it with one from the glove box, but what I'm wondering is...what are good bubls/ways to uprate the lights on the car? Dipped/Low Beam is kind of poor (even with both working) and I'd like to have a decent amount of light thrown out by the lamps.

You have room for spare bulbs in your glove box?:D - mines too crammed with CD's & general rubbish.... :o

Have you noticed how it only warns you of a bulb failure when the lights are on? - I may be imagining it, but I'm sure my e38 warned me if I had a bulb out regardless if the lights were on or off...... As I say, probably my imagination....

Hope your still enjoying the 328 Invader. :)

CD's? Are they those things people used before MP3 player integration?!

I have a craptastic MP3 CD player. :(

R420 - Yeah, I'm loving the car, brilliant fun, so far I've covered getting on for 1k since the start of March when I picked it up, and it's just awesome to drive, even just taking it for a 10min drive I love it. :D

I'm learning to launch properly and also learning to push it on corners...now that I have some decent rubber, so I'm not crawling round them. :)

I Just fitted a 6000k hid kit to my e36 after my previoud hid kit(about 4 years old) became faulty. took a hour and cost £40. Ive heard good things about the phillips and osram nightbreaker bulbs.

E38s do warn if your bulb has gone whether you turn the lights on or not so your memory isn't that bad. :)

E46s do the same, can't remember if my E36s did though, I don't recall ever having a bulb go on them anyway.

To keep the RR thread slightly on topic...

You'll just have to get lucky with the ebay sniping :D

They don't offer rust fixing on ebay. :( :p

Seats I can get for ~£100-£150 from the bay or e36coupe or freeads, from what I've seen.

I need to get some decent pictures of the rust and get some quotes online if I can...because at the moment I'm too busy to visit body shops.

Just seen this...

Yes it does, I spotted it was out anyway, then glanced at the OBC and it said the bulb was out. :)

Currently looking at interiors, 18 button OBC conversion and need to sort the rust. Problem is I think the rust is going to cost a fair bit.

Wow, updates on changing a bulb!

I had some dust on my dash the other day, so I wiped it off. Pics to follow....

:D

Wow, updates on changing a bulb!

:p

Was more the point of it burnt out, rather than the element snapping as normally happens.

And it gave me a chance to ask about better lights.

Paradigm, you did a HID conversion or something? Do you have more information on that?
