Is it not possible to grind a flat edge into 2 sides of the bolt (nut?) and use a flat head screwdriver and a breaker bar?.
No.
I'm not sure if you are meaning the wheel nut or the calliper carrier bolts.
With regards to the wheel nuts, the only way they are coming out is if I speak to BMW and get a new tool. Wheel nut removers don't work...which can't be done till Monday, due to being in the middle of nowhere and everywhere being closed on Sundays.
As for the bolts on the carrier, they are upto/around 81Ft Lb or torque (at least, but I'm guessing higher and someone wanged it up with an air ratchet). Getting a grinder in behind the hub is not a sensible idea really.
I've loaded my boot with the tools I'll need for bolt removal, and I've got a new set of the bolts I'll need (wheel and calliper carrier ones, as well as disc locating screws).
So, next week it's a trip to BMW for the locking nut tool (they
should have one) and then I get to hopefully sort the brakes...all because I was a **** and have misplaced the sodding locking nut.
Although the only tool I don't have, but will need is an air ratchet or electric ratchet for removing the rounded calliper bolts...anyone near Reading have one or easy access to one?
It's not going well for him is it, lol
No, it's not, and the longer I leave the new pads on the old discs, the worse they'll become, and the likelihood of needing new pads gets higher.
