iPad isn't supposed to charge via USB - not enough voltage. If you managed it it must have been via a wired hub just on the threshold.

USB spec is 5volts... assume you mean current?

Have not tried it with mine but come across this the other day:

45. Avoid USB docks

The iPad does not charge when you connect it to some USB docks. Instead, plug in the cord directly to a USB port. Note that, on some PCs, USB port son the front of the computer may not work either (these are considered part of a USB dock) so you will need to plug into one on the back.

The USB ports on Apple computers provide 5 V (Volts) and 500 mA (Milliamps) to each port, regardless of whether the port is USB 1.1 or USB 2.0. This is in compliance with USB specifications. On some newer Intel-based Macs, such as the MacBook (13-inch, Late 2007), when a device requiring more than 5V and 500mA is connected, the port with that device connected to it becomes a high-powered port capable of offering up to 1100 mA at 5 V. That port will continue to operate as a high-powered port until the device is removed.

Tempted to dump the pc and get the 16gb 3G, is there a good PAYG o2 packages where I could buy say £20 of internet data only and use it as and when?

Will mainly be using it at home and other places with wifi but would like to have the option to hop online if out of a wifi area

Nope. DSGi (PC World, Currys) are sold out of all models, they've banned staff discount on it until July 27th and you're only allowed to buy one. Demand is certainly out-pacing our supply.

£7.50 get you 1G a month on 3, £15 get you 10G on 3

The other networks are £10 for 1G, £15 for 3G.

I must have hit it just right then as I managed to reserve and collect a 16GB Wifi + 3G on Friday @ MK

signed up for the 1GB on 3 and i have used 2 thirds in a week already lol might be worth me upgrading to 10GB

yes its a rolling contact which means you can stop it any time or upgrade it to a 10gb or downgrade to 1gb but if you dont use any yes you do still pay

Camera connection kit, is it picky or what?
So i tried to use it last night.

First up was the SD card reading, put in a 4G SDHC Sandisk card. It is unreadable. Apparently it is not supported for some reason, may be because it is i just put in some jpeg into the card?

Not to much bother i thought as my 5Dii shoots CF anyway. So I used the USB connector, plugged in my Sandisk USB reader into it, and it turns out it dares too much power????? What the hell, its not a big USB dock.

So i have the camera kit but until i can find a USB CF card reader that works with the iPad, i can't use it.

Can't you plug the camera directly into the connection kit?

Doesn't seem to be an option to change it but you can do a workaround.
Go to the website you want and press the + to add a shortcut to your homescreen. Then put that Icon into your dock.

Yea that's what I thought, was on my CEO's new iPad, looks like the only thing you can change is the search engine nothing else...

Is printing supported yet via the iPad?
