In the "fall" for OS4 and multitasking.

You can use Handbrake to convert MKV's for the iPad and get 720p out of it. Air Video can stream HD from your HDD to the iPad converting on the fly and works superbly.

There have been some attempts to attached an external HDD via the camera addon thingy but last I saw, ona youtube video, there was no success.

Printing is in the works apparently, not sure about Word documents though there may be an app that is compatible with Word and as for watching films on, I think it's great. Of course a huge TV will alway be better but for lounging on the sofa watching a film/TV program, playing some very decent games and browsing the web it's great. My laptop hasn't been used since I got the iPad but it'll never replace my desktop for many obvious reasons.
 
Took two attempts and there's still some air bubbles but the g/f has managed to fit my iPad with a screen protector :)

I bought one a couple weeks ago,

Probably wouldn't protect it if dropped but it's good to stop scratches also comes with a good screen protector and dock/headphone port covers.
 
I was a massive hater of this device as it is just a large iphone (without using it). I dumped my iphone for imo a superior os in android.

Used an ipad today and that screen has wowed me over. I think decent android tablets are a while off yet.

Im tempted to go for a cheap 16Gb version a few questions to sway me.

Magazine subs> Does evo (car mag) have an digital ipad version yet?
Can i use my android phone to make it a wirless hotspot?
Has this been jailbroken? If so how is emulation? Especially stuff like PSX and Snes? Still hard to control using touch screens?

I have found a few uses for it. I had a laptop but sold it as alli did was browse the net with it anyway, I got a lot of away matches and for the trips when im not driving i have about 3 or 4 hours to kill. Its idela for that.

Im in two minds about waiting for a non rubbish Android tablet though.

Well I got one (64GB 3G, kerching :o). Thoughts :

- Ooh, shiney.
- It's heavy!
- Very smooth and responsive operation.
- Why does the iPod app split up my albums? (ie. the same album is displayed multiple times, with a few tracks in each "copy", but the same one is fine on my iphone).
- iBooks \o/ I'm busily converting stuff to epub and adding into iTunes manually, this is nice. Bye bye Sony e-reader.
- But my audio books (through www.audible.co.uk > iTunes) aren't imported :mad:
- Calendar does not seem to have the ability to sync with my google calendar like my iphone does. Grr!
- Why aren't my notes sync'd in from my iPhone? I sync them both with the same PC.
- PhotoPad - free photo editor - is nice.
- Youtube works mostly, but "this video does not currently support iPad" is getting annoying. www.youtube.com/html5 doesn't seem to work either.
- Lack of flash is already getting annoying, I wish Apple weren't so militant about it :( t'pad seems to have plenty of horsepower.

Overall, it's nice atm but it should support flash instead of expecting world + dog to adopt HTML5 and re-encode all their video content. It'll be very nice indeed when more apps are available, and I'm sure the bugs will be squished in due time. I'm glad I got it, and selling my e-reader + 12" laptop will cover a good chunk of the cost.



Next : The Apple case for it seems to be having some bad reviews regarding fingerprints and build quality. Anyone got one? Can you confirm or deny? Any good alternative cases that aren't too hefty?

Also : Any recommendations for a good PAYG or 30-day rolling data plan would be appreciated. Ta!

Dont bother converting, the new iBook version supports PDFs.

Theres more options in the iTunes device sync thing than is apparent, scroll down on books, and the audiable books will be at the bottom.

Have you set up the email/calender as a GoogleSync/Exchange or as a IMAP account?

The Three £7.50/1Gb one is a good starting point ive found. :).
