*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

If you commute as often as I do (everyday), then you would not live without an iPad.

Train delay - iPad
Long journey - iPad
Waiting for the elevator - iPad !
Eating lunch alone - iPad

I have the the 3G one too, and on 3 Network which is amazing, I can pretty much get internet everywhere! Places where O2 and Orange has no signal.

I am sooooo getting the next one lol
I do wish I had 3g... Using my Nokia to tether a wi-fi signal is extremely slow on Virgin Mobile and it drains my battery like HELL.

The college has a guest wifi but i connect and it doesn't do anything so... might ask about it.

Though I still don't like getting it out in public.. Don't know why really its just so big and everyone can obviously see what your doing and then either ask you things or try to go on it etc etc. It just pulls attention.

I only get it out in public to check email/Facebook/forums.

On the train I would play Angry Birds, listen to music, read the Guardian online, and even do some really long emails to clients (as I have time). It can be productive too as well as entertaining !

What I don't do much is read books (even though i have like 30 books in there), and watch movies/TV. The internet itself occupy me enough.

I think the net would occupy me really... feels a bit odd sitting there watching such a big screen. Angry birds needs more levels... completed it the day they released more levels..

So much to do on the net. How quick actually is the 3g then? Approx time to load a page? And how much you paying for it

The net is REALLY fast.

Sometimes, I turn off Wifi when I go out to conserve battery (it searches constantly), and I got home and use the iPad online, i forgot I was still on 3G. It is that fast. That said, I only go to the same few pages, Facebook, Forums, The Guardian. Though i have downloaded games on there, updates apps through it, its quick enough. Plenty quick enough.

I am paying £15 a month, 10G limit.

Quite a high limit really.. don't think I could use 10GB.. doubt i would be streaming videos etc.
Might look into these mi-fi things or whatever they are called, though I really don't have money to keep spending on top of my phone contract... Need a job! Damn being young ;)

Seems 3 do a mi-fi £9.50 for a 1GB data a month, though its a 18 month contract. The sim alternative for 1GB is £7.50 and its just a 1 month contract.

1GB Gives you:
Send 1000 Outlook/HTML Emails
Surf the Web for 10 hours
Download 5 four minute videos
Download 32 four minute music tracks
20 minutes of video... that's not right?

I think you can just buy a MiFi and put a sim in, so you could get a higher allowance plan for less and just pay a fee up front for the Mifi
