*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Don't forget that the USA prices don't include sales tax.

Mine is leaving New York today and I will have it in my greasy mitts over the weekend. I'm still not sure if it's costing me anything or not ;)

Your soul!

Mine left from Miami yesterday, no idea how long it's going to take to get through UK customs though :( It says it has a guaranteed delivery date of April 26th on the tracking but I don't believe that.

I'm for some reason increasingly becoming interested in the iPad, but I'd not go without 3G.

Hope we've not got to wait too long.

Pre-orders are starting May 10th, at apple.com/uk.

Now sure when they'll launch though :o

Really ? When Steve Jobs was asked about this at the launch, he explicitly said no you couldnt tether an iPad to an iPhone

Have they done a u-turn on this now ?

With an iPhone you have to jail break and we cant talk about that here so that's as far as it can go. Other devices you don't have to, depends on you device.

Only from Googling just now have I realised that late May is both the WiFi and 3G iPad... we're not having a 30 day gap like the Americans did.

I'm tempted to ask my Dad to get me a 64GB 3G whilst he's in the states early May...

Anyone make an educated guess on 3g contracts, i'm assuming it's just gonna be unlimited 3g etc, just curious what inital payment might be like, was hoping it wouldn't
be too high.

Worth it I imagine. If it's being hand carried then you wont pay any extra tax.

Apparently so. However all is not lost...

.... if you are an iPhone developer you can use either of the following:

http://github.com/tcurdt/iProxy

http://code.google.com/p/iphone-socks-proxy/

to tether your iPad to iPhone.
