*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Assuming I am looking at the same ebay seller he has 4 of the 10 left. If I could be sure he's legit I would be so tempted. The current exchange rate puts the 64gb version at £455.

His positive feedbacks show a lot of ipod sales so I'm hoping its a trader with access to decent bulk discounts. If it goes wrong ill claim it back.

I was the first to buy so comforting to see others have :p

If you type iPad into ebays search bar and then goto buy it now it's the one that's £550 +£15.99 p&p. That's assuming it the same one as DailyGeek ordered from.

What's strange is earlier it said he had sold 6 and had 4 left now he has sold 2 and has 8 left.

My fave iPad apps so far are:

Air video - just  it plays all my video files on my Mac and converts in realtime, even mkv

Goodreader - Nice PDF reader

Logmein ignition - controls my iMac perfectly

Fieldrunners - perfect tower defense game that works great on the larger screen

Zinio - magazines on iPad done really well, hoping for more choice

Battery update. Used the iPad for 2 hours this evening and have 92% battery left. Browsed web and played field runners.

This is the best battery I have had on a device!!

Whoa, thats very good... I seem to find out every ipod i buy runs out of batter so quick... especially my Itouch 3g.

Yer as said above how is the on screen keyboard :)?

Had a long play with one out in the States a few days after launch. Screen is wonderful and there's some very nice apps already, but I couldn't think of a time when I would use it - home I'd rather use the big screen (due to my eyes), work the same, so that just leaves travelling when my iPhone is better suited to the job.

Shame really, but I'm too prone to impulse toy buying, so after much deliberation and even hoping an Apple store employee would happen by and give me some reasons why I wanted one, I walked out of the Apple store without. Just as well given the credit card bill when I got home.

PS - Favourite app - Star Walk.

PPS - Keyboard is fine - works like the iPhone/iPod Touch, obviously (same layout, etc.), but fairly close to 'normal' size 'keys' (at least in landscape mode).

Thanks Berserker and Feek.

For me, having it as a browsing device as well as reading PDFs would be phenomenal.

How is Goodreader on this? Do they have an iPad version of their software already/

@ElliorR.

What exchange rate you working on?

Working on a rate of $1.50 US to £1.00 it still works out at £466. I've mentioned before too that whatever you buy fron the US on the websites or in store you have to add a sales tax which is like our VAT because it's not added automatically like VAT is here in the UK, Florida (Orlando) sales tax is 6.5%, Nevada (Las Vegas) 7.5%.
I'm going to Las Vegas in May and probably a few more times this year, also Orlando a good few times due to my work.

I think i'll pick a few up. :D

At the moment it's strictly one per person per 24 hours with them checking names/credit card numbers for each purchase to make sure you're not buying more than allowed.

Feek, have you tried the marvel comic app? I'm not a comic fan but it really is nice.

I think the iPad would not have worked with osx on it. The iPhone os is just so slick for this kind of device.

Yup, I've not got too much installed yet.
1Password
Comics
IMDb
Kindle (this won't be on for long, I've got no content!)
Marvel
Minesweeper
ParaPanic
Shazam
Planets
Twitterrific

I agree about OS X, this works much better than I was expecting. With OS X on it it would have taken far too long to start up.

I do need a good Twitter app, I've never got on with Tweetdeck and it's no better on the iPad.

I'm making do with Twitteriffic at the moment, though I hated it on the iPhone. I'm hoping that when Twitter get going with Tweetie, we'll get an iPad version too.
