*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Some might say that you can do all that above with the iphone :p

I found out the death of Michael Jackson while sitting on the throne reading twitter. lol
Well i do it with my ipod touch ;) Thats mainly why i want iPad as its bigger :D
So screw the people who say its a big ipod touch.... SO :D? I love my ipod :)

So im guessing a few of you have got them now? Was just wondering what your first thoughts are as i was going to get one now im saying i dont as ive got a 32gb ipod touch so need some reassuring lol......Also can i confirm i will have no problem with a US ipad being used in UK?..

First thoughts were fantastic! No problems using it in the UK either, posting this from bed on my iPad :p

Mine was delayed by Tornado alert apparently and also he put the wrong postcode! Strewth! Says now it should be here within two days which I find hard to believe with it going through customs. Seemed like a good idea at first with all the freebies he was throwing in heh.

FYI: Every 3G iPad sold in the USA and UK is SIM-unlocked.

Only Japan are selling locked iPads! ha ha! :D

So what's everyone's thoughts on the 3G tariffs?
Currently I like the look of the Orange pay as you go tariff. As I won't use much 3G (but I think i'd like to have it as an option), and for 5p/MB it's quite cheap.

However you only get access to BT Openzone places if you sign up for a monthly tariff, which is a bit annoying!

Personally I'm hoping Vodafone do a combined iphone/ipad tariff, that'd be quite handy! :)

Muahahah :D

*strokes his printed pre-order invoice*

Does this mean theyre sold out or something?

iPad UK preorders only opened on Monday but it seems Apple has already shifted a significant number of the tantalising tablet. The shipping date for iPad UK preorders has now changed so if you’re not planning to head down to the Apple Store in person, you’ll have a slightly longer wait…

Apple hasn’t revealed how many tablets it put aside for iPad UK preorders but it seems it’s all allocated the lot. Up until today, iPad UK preorders had a predicted shipping date of May 28, the day the iPad will hit the Apple Store. Now new iPad UK preorders won’t arrive until June 7.

not surprising :)

Yes Orange here even though I hate them as a network.
It was specifically that 5p/MB that attracted me.

5p/MB attracted me until you realise you get 800mb at the most, its capped at £40/month, which is expensive!

You can get 3GB for £15/month on monthly contracts can't you? Think I'm definitely going down the Mifi route if I decide I need the internet on the go on iPad

Or just buy the O2 deal I posted, and cut the SIM down.

(That's what I'm doing :))

I've ordered two of those O2 SIMS.

I'm also going to get an Orange one too.

One thing putting me off Orange though:

For checkout you will need:
Your addresses for the past 3 years
We need to know where you’ve lived in the UK for the past 3 years. If you can’t provide this information, just give us a call on 0800 079 2000.

Your payment details
We’ll need your bank account details to set up a monthly direct debit payment and your credit or debit card details to make a one-off payment for your phone.
It takes around 5 - 8 minutes to complete this process.
Erm, not sounding very Pay-As-You-Go to me...

I think that's so they have your details on record (which will allow you make payments whenever you want - without entering another 1 off agreement).

Where about, I'm going blind!

I think the £100 difference with 3G and non-3G isn't worth it when you can get Mifi for £50. You can use the Mifi on your iPhone, iPad, girlfriends laptop if/when we go anywhere needing it.

Just seems the Mifi has more usage and its £50 cheaper than the 3G upgrade in the iPad!

Might be an obvious answer but why not just use your iphone / android phone as the wifi access point ? Saves paying for another device / contract.
