Quick question im sure someone can comment on it :)

1) how is the sound on the iPad, compared to say the tinny rubbish speakers on the iTouch? No idea if the iPhone is better, surely its a bit better

I love the idea of the anti-rotation thing on the side of the iPad. Something i've always wanted for my iTouch - software update or something.
Would love to see that and like more places where you can have restrictions on.
Like in general>restrictions you can do safari, app store youtube etc. Wish you could also password things like pictures though as well. Like a lot of people at school are always wanting to play a game on my iTouch but would like to be able to disable them!

Actually it's better with non universal apps. It means that I only get the iPad apps on the iPad and the iPhone apps on the iPhone. Of course, charging twice is rubbish!

What's needed is something like playlists for apps so one can set them up for different devices.

iPhone OS4 has a software method of locking the screen into portrait mode.
 
Universal apps "just work".. open it on an iPad and it's the iPad version.. open it on an iPhone and you get the iPhone version.

Aye, I was thinking of the ease of splitting what syncs to each device. I don't want the same apps on my iPad as I have on the iPhone.
 
As a developer - when you compile you can compile for:
a) iPhoneOS
b) iPad
c) iPhoneOS & iPad

Barring the API/feature differences between 3.1.2 (iPhone), 3.2 (iPad) and 4.0, it's possible to write applications that use the additional screen resolution automatically. Although the majority of apps it makes sense to design to make use of the additional resolution so there's a large chance that iPad apps will differ in use and design (adding cost to the developer to support the iPad version).
 
Woo.....got my iPad back this morning and it's great! I agree with the iTunes app sync problem, it would be perfect if they supported playlists or folders for apps so that you can sync folder A with iPhone, folder B with iPad and folder C with both.

Sound wise I'm pretty impressed with the sound output when listening to music although I didn't have high hopes to begin with but it's not bad. Depends what your expecting or looking for. It's good enough for me.

I don't have a problem just ticking the boxes of which app I wish to sync to which device or am I missing the point?

Originally quoted at $10 each so even if they go for maximum ripoff, they'll only be a tenner a pop. I recon £7.99 or £8.49 is more realistic.

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of a micro sim? i've seen a few versions... however most seem to say 12 x 15mm - is this the dimensions we would need to use?

And just to confirm, by using an O2 PAYG sim and chopping it, am I right in thinking:

• No minimum contract like the proper ones

• Unlimited tinterweb as opposed to 3GB limit

• but risk they'll clock it and shut the sim down or something like that? - they're not daft... are they?

I've removed the link, that's total guff. Nobody apart from Apple are selling these, they're not even going out to authorised dealers. Those prices are cheaper than you can buy in the USA. It's a scam, nothing else.

Doh!

Forgot to use quidco for my order... considered cancelling and replacing the order but just noticed the delivery date is pushed back to 7th June now...

Hopefully I'm in the first batch, my email clearly says "Delivers by May 28th" so fingers crossed. Dont know if anyones clocked this, but if it doesn't come on the 28th, the Monday's a bleedin' bank holiday so it'll be Tuesday - not 100% if they intend to send them out, or get them to us on the 28th?

Sad isn't it, if I would be willing to wait until the 7th, I could save my £18 through quidco... am I going to?

I thought of this, and have mention it in this thread, but since it says delivered by 28th May I fully expect it on the Friday. I expect we'll start getting dispatch emails on the 26th.

Roll on ffs :D
